Chances at Ivy Leagues

Thanks everybody for your opinions! I have more of a clue of where I stand now.

Of course more viewpoints would be appreciated. Also, I am now wondering whether I should apply Stanford or Harvard EA?

wait...you scored a 2390 and you are wondering if you can get into an Ivy league school?

I've had enough of this crap

ur a frickin shoo in at cornell, dont waster ur time with cornell it would be a great shame if someone like you went there. HYP, honestly, u are wayyyyyy smarter than the average kid there but u wont get in cuz ur ec's suck. trust me, my sis had equivalent Ec's and same academics, actually a little worse academically, and she gotrejected from HY but, dont worry theres justice in this world. If not HY, u have a great shot at cal tech and MIT, because they look into academics a lot more than wishywashy yale and harvard. but if ur bent on doing something non science related apply to columbia and darthmouth, cuz HYP, u still have a shot, but i think ur ec's will kill you. but columbia and dartmouth should be easily get-in-able for you, because they simply can;t turn down somone as smart as you. good luck and congrats on the hard work!

He could easily get rejected at all of HYPS with a 2390 if he didn't have any ECs. Good test scores don't necessarily mean admittance.

Cornell rejected kids this year with those kinds of scores because they had weak ECs, you are not a shoe in at any ivy league school, believe me - the valedictorian of our high school this year was rejected from Cornell

Your academics are strong. Get some safeties.

Cornell is OK on Academics but I wouldn't assume it with your ECs. The higher Ivies will be a reach because of EC as well. It'll really depend on how you play it up. Focus on the research and the languages.

You don't get it, do you? HYPS is <40% for everybody.

I disagree. If you have a gold medal at the IMO, then you probably have much higher odds. If you are a URM with a superb SAT score, you again probably have much better chances. Heck, Harvard stated that it rejects just over half of their perfect SAT score applicants - so if you have a perfect score, you have over 40% chance.

Having said that, I do agree with the <40% chance.

Thanks. How may I improve my ECs? And what kind of ECs is considered "HYPs quality"?

bump...I would greatly appreciate if someone replies to my above question!

And again...thanks to everyone who's participated in the discussion in this thread.

Also, would it be more beneficial for me to apply Harvard or Stanford EA?
