Chances at Ivy/Top universities?

Copy/Pasted format from the "Decisions" threads

Objective:
• SAT I (breakdown): 800 CR, 740 M, 770 W (2310)
• ACT:
• SAT II: 760 Literature, 750 US History, 720 Math 2
• GPA: 3.98 UW at my school where A- is 4.0, 3.91 if A- is 3.7, 4.4 W
• Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): #2 out of 580
• AP (place score in parenthesis): Four 5’s (Basically hardest schedule my bad school offers)
• IB (place score in parenthesis):
• Senior Year Course Load: Taking 5 AP exams this year.
• Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit commendation, National Hispanic Recognition, AP Scholar w/ Honor

Subjective:
• Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Mock Trial (lead attorney, only have done for 1 year but I am expressing passion for it in app), 3 yr varsity tennis, 4 yr CSF, 2 yr Spanish Honor Society, 1 yr Freshmen mentor program (leader), 1 yr Cycling Club (vice president)
• Job/Work Experience: Assistant at doctor’s office during summer, academic tutor
• Volunteer/Community service: ~200 hours community service. Food distribution center, cooking for needy at local church, some other various stuff
• Summer Activities: UCLA mock trial, religious organization trip to Washington DC to lobby against use of torture
• Essays: I’m a very good writer stylistically, and my topics were focused. Perhaps generic though.
• Teacher Recommendation: Awesome
• Counselor Rec: Ordinary (hardly know her)

Other
• State (if domestic applicant): CA
• Country (if international applicant):
• School Type: Public, mediocre, large, rarely anyone to top schools (1 max, most top kids to UCs)
• Ethnicity: Hispanic
• Gender: M
• Income Bracket: highest, 250k+ or whatever

Strengths: SAT, URM, well written essays, good recs
Weaknesses: Meh ECs, not much leadership. Perhaps 3.91 GPA a shade low compared to the 4.0 standard.

Applying to:
Harvard
Stanford
Yale
Penn
Dartmouth
Cornell
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD

Thanks, please be harsh if necessary. Like most out there I'm ultra anxious and want to hear other opinions :) will respond if possible.

good shot everywhere, especially cos you’re hispanic!

uc’s: you are a lock
all of the other top schools you seem like a great match for, but sometimes those schools will reject the most qualified of applicants. You should get into most of them, if not all.

Harvard-mid reach
Stanford-mid reach
Yale-mid reach
Penn-low reach
Dartmouth-low reach
Cornell-low reach
UC Berkeley-high match
UCLA-match
UCSD-match

Very great scores, rank, URM, etc! You should get into all the UCs imo, and are defintely in the running for the elite Ivies/Stanford. Essays need to be awesome though! Good luck :)

Chance back please:

Dartmouth - Low Reach
Cornell - Low Reach
UC Berkeley - High Match
UCLA - Match

You have a great shot anywhere, but all ivies are reaches for everyone; very unpredictable.

Especially since you’re hispanic, i think you have a really great shot at being accepted into any of these schools - but again ivy leagues are really selective each year:/ Good luck to you!

Harvard - Reach
Stanford - Reach
Yale - Reach
Penn - Low Reach
Dartmouth - Low Reach
Cornell - Low Reach
UC Berkeley - In
UCLA - In
UCSD - In
You are a great candidate for all of those schools. Your EC’s may prevent you from being accepted at the Ivies. Be sure to emphasize one or two of your activities and you’ll be fine. I suspect you will be admitted to at least 2/6 top tier schools you listed.

Thanks for opinions. Any others? Will chance back if link is posted.
