chances at lawrenceville and deerfield

i'm currently an sophomore and i already go to boarding school at culver. I only got 80% on ssat, but I am a straight A student. People tell me I write pretty well, so my apps should be good. I go numerous extracurriculars (i won't list them). What are my chances for Lawrenceville? Deerfield? Oh ya, i'm also applying to repeat 10th grade, if that helps. Thanks.

why are you applying to other boarding schools if you are already at one? To chance you we would need to know more about ec's, ect....

Good chance...good grades at boarding school sort of validates your ability to handle the work. Im guessing you play like hockey or lacrosse?

If you are a talented athlete, then your chances are quite good. Both Lawrenceville & Deerfield are in very high demand, therefore you need to bring a lot more to the table than excellent grades & an 80 on the SSAT. What are your EC interests & accomplishments? Are you seeking financial aid? Why Lawrenceville & Deerfield, but not Culver Academies?

Coldwinds right...athlete and your chances increase a whole lot. Mine def. did in deerfield because they need a point guard for the season next yr...and I just happen to play on a very competitive team. Its all about luck and if they need your position. But if your not an athlete I would list out your EC's to get a proper chancing.

my ec's are:
varsity soccer
jv basketball
jv baseball
school newspaper (sports writer)
chess club
computer science

also I have received academic awards for my gpa

No FA

also, does it help that i am coming from a boarding school? and repeating 10th grade?

Your chances are better since you are not seeking FA. Playing varsity soccer & two JV sports will also help. Applying to repeat 10th grade may hurt if you are a straight A student who has received academic awards. It may be better to inform both schools that you are willing to enroll as either a 10th or 11th grade student, and would be willing to attend summer school if there is an academic deficiency in your school transcript. Your 80 SSAT score will, however, be impacted depending upon to which grade you apply. For example, your 80 SSAT for an application as a 10th grader may be a 70 SSAT if applying to the 11th grade. When did you take the SSAT & to what grade were you applying?

If your open to repeating you will def. get it. I don't think that would hurt you at all

Have you had your interviews yet? They will likely grill you on why you want to change schools so you better have some very good reasons. Why did you go to Culver in the first place?
