Chances at Medical School with A's, B's, and C's??? HELP PLS!!!

Hello everyone,

I'm getting kinda desperate/paranoid and I would really appreciate any input you could give about my chances of getting into medical school.
No particular school in mind yet. Just my chances at med school in general.

I was part of an advanced high school program where I could attend college classes during my junior and senior year of high school and earn transferable credits (without the +/- scaling). My grades during these two years:

Biology I -> C
Biology II -> C
Biology I Lab -> B
Biology II Lab -> B
Biology (upper level credit) -> A
Biology (upper level credit) -> A
General Chemistry I -> A
General Chemistry II -> A
General Chemistry I Lab -> A
General Chemistry II Lab -> A
English I -> A
English II -> A
English III -> B
Rhetoric -> A
History I -> B
History II -> A
Pre-Calculus -> A
Calculus I -> A
Calculus II -> A
Physics I -> B
Physics II -> A
Physics I Lab -> A
Physics II Lab -> A
Badminton -> A
Political Science I -> A
Political Science II -> A
Health Psychology -> A

Currently, I am a freshman at college and I just completed my 1st semester. These are my grades during this semester:

Organic Chemistry I -> B
Organic Chemistry I Lab -> A
Statistics for Life Sciences -> B+
Introduction to Psychology -> B+
Sociology -> A
Computer Science I -> B+

As you can see, I've covered quite a bit of my pre-med requirements.
I know the biology grades aren't the best, and I am planning to retake the class over the summer.

But overall, what are my chances?
Thank you in advance!!!!

Admission to med school is pretty unpredictable. In general, people would say those C’s would hurt, however, I think it would be also considered that you took those college level classes in high school. You also show a rise in grades and your first semester is OK. Since you got many prerequisites done before college, using this advantage to take more advanced classes, research, and other interesting activities- volunteering- may be to your advantage if you do well.

If you can repeat the biology and you do well it will help and also be a good foundation for more advanced classes.

I wouldn’t worry about those early C’s. Your recent work is considered more indicative of your academic performance.
For example; why are you getting B’s in ‘Intro to Psych’ and ‘Computer Science I’?

@JustOneDad thank you for your feedback! I did slack off this past semester and as a result I got an 89 in psychology, computer science, and statistics. I could have possibly pulled off an A- but it’s too late to do anything now.

I’m not trying to bludgeon you when I point out that “slacking off” is exactly what medical school admissions committees are concerned about.

you’re absolutely right. I guess I’m just wondering if there’s anyway I can recover from this?
The obvious would be making more A’s from now on. But anything else?

Take some more science classes and make A’s, but not just for the grades. Choose some that show your interest and abilities. Maybe psychiatry isn’t for you.
