I had a terrible first three semesters (averaged like a 2.8) but ever since then my average GPA has been 3.72 with honors courses and AP. I am a legacy at Michigan but am white and out of state. i got a 24 on my ACT without studying but i'm going for a 26-28 this June. I;m in lots of EC's

Alpine Skiing
BAsketball(manager,probably 20 hours a week)
Exec.Board(pretty much student gov.)
Yearbook
Band(2 years)
Volunteer flag football coach for underprivaleged kids
summer leadership forum

I am also an Umpire for my local LL.

the university means more than anything to me and i'm going to get that across with my essays and maybe a cover letter. my school newspaper wrote a column about my passion for the university(i wear at least two articles of Michigan clothing per day).

My GPA after junior year will be around 3.2

So what are my chances

Your chances are pretty low. Legacy doesn’t matter if you have a 3.2 and a crappy 24 ACT. Try taking the SAT to see how you do.

Sorry buddy, you don’t really have a chance. Legacy means next to nothing at UM. The average GPA is a 3.9 and the average ACT is 29-30.

Sorry, but you have a slim chance at getting into Michigan. Your GPA is not near high enough, which might not be too bad if you had really high test scores, but even a 24 with higher grades isn’t high enough for U of M. I am not one to think that U of M is as hard as others make it out to be, but that is generally going for an in state applicant. You will have to apply as early as possible because the later you apply the lower your chance of getting in. U of M will definately be a reach, so have some safeties in place. You do have a slim chance of getting in, so definately talk about your passion for U of M in your application and put a ton of spin in there as well.

Your chances are not great, but there isn’t harm in trying. So go for it and the best of luck to you!

Alright thanks Kutless. for all the other haters though, if i get in i’ll make sure that you’re some of the first to know.

Haters?? Where did that come from. Honestly you asked for the truth and people told you it. You’re GPA and ACT scores are very low for UM. That’s all. There’s no “hating”.

/Arrogance

I hope you’re kidding. You asked for what we thought your chances at Michigan were, and we gave you our opinions. Don’t ****ing whine about it. We are not the Admissions Board of Michigan, and what we say does not have any meaning in the real world.

Your scores are pretty low…plus those ECs are really nothing special.
But obviously everyone has somewhat of a chance. If you write Killer Essays and rock the interview (if they have one), then you have a slight chance.

OK sorry, i didn’t mean it like that.
