Hello Notre Dame is my dream school and I was just wondering what my chances are. I am currently a sophomore
from NJ in a public school.
I've taken all honors and APs, except for chemistry. Does this hurt my chances? What else can I do to stand out? I'm not a legacy or athlete.

GPA Weighted- 99.0

Your post is quite misleading. You’re a sophomore, yet you indicated that you were a Varsity Swimmer for “all 4 years.” Is this just a projection? Because otherwise I don’t see how that is possible. Also, you said that you’ve “taken all honors and AP’s,” but I’m not sure why it’s a problem that you haven’t taken AP Chemistry yet since you have your Junior and Senior years to do so. Also, could you specify which AP courses you’ve taken?

Please clarify so that you can get to the point where it would even be possible for someone to actually chance you-which is almost absurd since you’re not going into your senior year anyway.

@YungLean It’s not actually so misleading.

Many posters do projections, and we simply infer it.

Pretty sure the OP meant s/he couldn’t take Honors Chemistry instead of normal Chemistry (or some schools even let you do AP instead of normal).

Which APs don’t matter as much here, because 1) s/he is only a Sophomore and 2) s/he has noted that she has taken the hardest curriculum offered at her school (except for the Chemistry).

Also, Sophomores are frequent on CC. Many usually post in the HSL forum, but a few hop over occasionally, and there really is nothing wrong with that, if they want to think forward.

To answer the OP, you’re doing great volunteer wise, but you might want to orient your ECs to a specific interest. Are you interested in business? Medicine? Politics? Make sure your ECs show that. Then, in your most important ones, try to get leadership spots. Good luck.

@Woandering thanks for the insight. I’m new to CC, so a post from a sophomore seemed a little unusual, but I guess I really can’t have anything against someone who is taking a proactive approach to the admissions game.
