Please chances...

act=29 Sat Writing: 690 Sat Reading: 690

SAT math:640 (this score is bad, but does it matter if i got a 3 and 4 on the calc bc and ab exams and A's in the ap class?? 3 and 4 recieves credit at notre dame.)

Toughest course load possible (10 ap by end of senior year)
one 3, three 4, and one 5 on the ap tests (will recieve ap scholar with distinction), recieved volunteer awards

science club, Amnesty international, tutor children, volunteer at hospital (I am in the youth leadership council at the hospital), NHS.

expecting great teacher recommendations, and an excellent counselors letter.

You need to tell us some other information. What is your GPA? Class rank? What kind of high school do you go to - parochial, public, private, etc.? Where are you from? Play any sports?

Your stats are a little bit low for ND. I do know someone who got in with ACT and SAT scores almost the same as yours, but she was a legacy. You do have lots of AP classes, which is really great.

It's really hard to say what your chances are without getting some more info, though.

GPA=4.1/4.0, no class rank, public high school (very competitive).

I'd say you have slightly below average chances, since your scores are pretty low. Your GPA is strong, but your extracurriculars seem pretty average. For you to get in, you are going to have to make yourself stand out in your essays.

Unfortunately, at this point my gut is with swim just because I have seen way too many people turned down because of test scores (which is bogus btw, imo). RETAKE the SAT and ACT if you still have time, it really could be the difference!

does having 730 and 700 on chemistry and us history help??

I have a 4.23 on a 4.0 scale and am ranked in top 2% of a class of 256 at a private Catholic high school. - 8AP's by the end on my senior year. I have tons of community service, a commended scholar and various leadership positions in my high school.

I scored a 1490 on the SAT with 800 in Math and a 34 on the ACT with a 36 in math and science section.

I applied early and the wait is killing me - what do you think? Thanks for your comments.

you are probably in

You will probably be admitted, and if not deferred. I would be shocked if you were rejected- unless you have a criminal record or were caught cheating, etc. I applied EA, too, and time seems to be passing really slowly...Good luck!

I think you are in without a problem.

jpp, u said u knew a legacy that got in with similar test scores as yogurt; i was just wondering- do u by chance know her gpa and/or class rank?

I think her GPA was 3.5 unweighted - out of 4.0. I don't know the class rank. Are you a legacy, rick?

thanks, and yea i am a legacy, with about the same gpa as her

i smell a stolen thread.....

I know, I noticed that as well now that you mention it. PLEASE start your own threads, it makes it easier for those responding, it helps everyone get the help that they need, and it doesn't waste paper because it is online! There is no reason not to, and since you are so special, we really do think you are worth a thread all to yourself. Just do it!

I was a first time user of the sight so did not know to start my own thread - sorry

Not a problem, it is just something we encourage. It just helps make sure that we can keep everything straight and also make sure we fully answered everyone's questions. If you are looking at all the posts, in the upper right corner (not at the very top but on the right) there should be a link to create a new thread. Hope that helps.

your chances are slim

care to elaborate?

yogurt123 - to go all the way back and respond to your SAT II question. It can't hurt to have the scores, but when I matriculated in the ND, the only way to get advanced credit was with AP test scores. That having been said, the SAT II's might help show that you were motivated, took the classes and mastered the material you were tested on. Will it help you get in, it may, but I would hazard that it probably won't help you - take that with a grain of salt, it's been several years since I went through the process. Admissions dept's look at your whole file not just one set of scores; albeit that test scores are often used to separate those whose files should be more closely looked at from those who are below standards.
