I would like to go into investment banking but im not sure which college would be a better choice to complete my undregrad and whether it be NYU or UCLA i would like to know how difficult these schools are to get into. Also to see how hard it would be for someone in a junior college trying to transfer to one of these schools

I'm presuming you are talking undergraduates, here.

As far as investment banking--New York is the center of the world, and NYU is ranked the #2 finance program in the US (behind the Wharton school at Univ of Penn)--so you have a better chance coming out of NYU Stern's school than from UCLA, which doesn't have an undergraduate business school (Anderson only awards MBA degrees--and it's where I got mine). (Note: the Ivies also place a lot of people into I-banking--as do schools like Michigan, Virginia, USC, Georgetown, and, to a smaller degree, Indiana)

As far as difficulty--
NYU--average U/W GPA 3.6 with Stern school average SATs of 1422 (CR and Math portions only)
UCLA--3.87 U/W GPA, 4.17 W GPA, with average SAT scores of around 620 CR and 670 Math. It should be noted that the UC system only counts sophomore and junior years and only counts the 15 college prep courses. The 4.17 W GPA is calculated by adding in up to 8 semesters of honors courses in these two years (APs and IBs and approved honors only) and adding one extra grade point for each honors course.

Check out http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/policies.htm for details on the admissions process for both freshmen and transfers.

Keep in mind that it's tougher to get into UCLA from out-of-state than in-state, and that UCLA receives more freshmen applications than any other school in the country. (Interestingly enough, NYU receives more freshmen applications than any other private university in the country). So obviously, these two schools are among the toughest to get into in the country.

So what would be a good school then to complete my undergrad then if i wanted to go to NYU's buisness school? And how difficult are these schools gonna be to get into coming from a comm. college in illinois

NYU is an undergraduate (as well as graduate) business school. So just go ahead and apply if your stats are anywhere close to the numbers I gave (and you are now a senior in high school).

If cost is a factor and you plan to go the community college route and then transfer as a junior--use the link I gave for the UCLA chances. Unfortunately I don't know how difficult it is to get into NYU as a community college transfer--but I would guess it would be very difficult since you will be competing against transfers from other 4-year universities as well.

Good luck.
