My essays are extremely powerful.

I also intend on retaking the SAT on Saturday. I think my score should be in the 2000+ range. The last time i took the exam I was extremely sick and I managed to do fairly well.

Depending on my scores, I think I might also apply to a few Ivy Leagues because I do feel as if I am good enough.

I have more substantial ECs, but the applications for NYU, UF and Washington do not allow me to fully demonstrate the things I have done. With that said, the Common Application does.

Anyone? Please. :(

Ethnicity: Black
Unweighted/Weighted GPA: 3.8/4.9
Class Rank: 1/260
8 AP Classes by the end of the year

Obviously, you have a good chance... Good ec too

Thanks I suppose. My SAT scores aren't too low?

Why are you taking both the Math I and II SAT IIs?

Because I need 3 SAT Subject tests for some schools that I'll be applying to and I think Math is my strongest subject so I decided to take both.

Is this illegal?

Anyone else?

some schools dont count math 1 for some reason. You have to check if they accept that out. try physics or us his.

Really, zoolander? I took Physics as a sophomore online. I don't think I remember much. US History-- heavens no. :(

I will look into it though.

Bump. I feel so annoying. :(

Your SAT CR and M are horrible, but everything else is phenomenal. It seems like a big incongruence, why are they so low the colleges will ask, but they aren't that low that it will keep you from getting accepted

What is your problem schisman? Please don't let me have to tell you what is horrible.

My scores are far from terrible, you ignorant prick.

The 1st time I took the SATs I was simply overwhelmed. The second time I took it, I was sick. I am taking it on Saturday and my scores should be better. But I know my scores aren't horrible. Keep your insults to yourself.

And it wasn't too long ago that you had a 590 in every area of the SAT-- now THAT is horrible. Well.. not really, but I think you get the point.

Sorry, but schismman needed to be put in his place. Especially since it wasn't so long ago that his SAT score was a 1770/2400. Yes, you might have a higher SAT score than I do, but that does not warrant a prickly disposition.

He wasn't trying to offend you, I think. Horrible is the wrong word, those aren't bad, but he's right in saying that they don't fit with the rest of your application. Valedictorian and 8 APs put you near the top, academically, over most applicants. While the SATs aren't bad, they're not on the same level.

I don't think there was any significant cause for retaliation.

But if you were sick and everything, there's room for improvement.

That said, you're in at Washington and Lee and UF. Stern should be fine, too, provided the SAT increases. It isn't everything, but if it's a lot different from what your GPA and courseload indicate, it's a small alarm.

Any chance you'd be recruited for XC or tennis? What times did you get in cross-country?

Yes, I agree with np99sky. There was no real need to accost him verbally over a simple incorrectly used adjective. He was merely saying that your application is inconsistent in that your SAT scores are not as academically strong as your placement as valedictorian in a competitive public school. I think all the schools your applying to are well within your reach. You may even consider upenn wharton is business is the major your sure you want to be.

i think you have a good chance.
but just don't take math I and II
when schools ask for three subject tests, they are asking you to take three different subject tests. so taking math I and II might not even count.
you should take math, lit, and perhaps something in science or history for sure.

good luck!

Chances for UF - especially since you are in state are excellent. Are you applying ED to either NYU or Washington & Lee?

Big Dreams, you shouldn't be offended when you yourself post your scores up and ask them to be evaluated. Sure, maybe schism was a bit harsh, on the other hand he was correct.

"10/2007: M: 600; CR: 610; W: 700 "

Keep in mind that if I remember right NYU Stern doesn't look at writing. So that's a 1210/1600... you hardly stand out there. On the other hand your grades and schoolwork are outstanding, so overall as a candidate you are strong. But schism wasn't off the mark when he said your SAT scores are pretty poor.

everybody thinks they can beat me in tennis i hope we also get to play this hypothetical match some time

although i get your point about the writing, i don't see where you get off saying that im "pathetic" and "suck" at writing when you go off on that schisman for saying you had less than great sat scores

im probably just coming to the sad realization that i have "minimal" chances at the schools i want to go to, but do you really think that writing is going to be that big of a deal?

good luck im sure you'll do fine
