I'm wondering what chances I have if I apply to NYU for Arts & Sciences or Business School.

I'm a decent student with a 3.60 GPA, 1300 on my SAT critical reading and math, and i'm taking IB rather than the normal high school diploma. I'm Italian/American with both passports and speak French, English, Italian. I have a list of extracurriculars but the most important ones I consider:
-Track & Field (1 year)
-Soccer (9 years)
-Guitar (6 years including lessons)

I've done over 100 hours of community service and I've worked on an organic farm over last summer. This summer I'm doing an internship at a medical technology company.

So, from my point of view these criteria are sort of weak. Any suggestions on how to improve are very welcome

your stats sound good to me..maybe apply ED if you can, and maybe do some volunteering that deals w/ soccer to show your passion. I bet they'll love that you're trilingual...maybe you could right an essay pertaining to that...they love diversity

Just make sure you'll have good essays and recs. and you'll be fine. IB looks really good too..(at least i hope so cuz im a diploma student...hehe)

haha thx, very encouraging!! well i've always wondered whether we IB students get noticed more than regular applicants...if only they knew how hard it was.

The IB Diploma is known more on the East Coast than any other place in the US..(its sort of made its way over from Europe and is slowly spreading West) so I'm sure they'll recognize it and understand its rigor. Plus, the CAS requirements, Extended Essay, and the like show that a student is well rounded (something all colleges want) Good luck!

You have a good shot. Your GPA and SATs are in NYU's middle ranges (see the CollegeBoard link below). If you can get that SAT score higher near the upper area of that middle range, your chances improve even more. The IB courseload and languages skill helps you a lot too. Turn in good essays and outstanding recs, improve that SAT, i think you have a really good shot. Good luck tvd.
