Hi,
I'm applying to Oberlin regular decision, and would like to see what you think of my chances of admission. Oberlin is my top choice school, but I had to resolve my financial situation before applying ED, and the opportunity passed.

I'm a white male, from a semi-rural suburb north of Boston, rigorous and well-reputed small, public high school, though not as highly esteemed as some in the metro Boston area.

Transcript:
- 3.6/4.0 unweighted, 4.1 weighted GPA
- grades are spotty freshman and sophomore years, and this worries me more than anything else, but theyre pretty solid across the board for junior and senior years.
- APs in European history, US History and Calc AB, all of which I'm currently in. This is also 3/4 of the AP classes which my school offers (the other being English), which I made a point of in my interview.
- excepting standard-level English in 11th and 12th grade, all classes at honors or AP level.

Scores:
SAT I: 800v, 750m, 690w
SAT II: 750 Math2c, 770 US History, 660 Chem
NMCS

EC's:
- Editor-in-Chief of Student Newspaper
- Captain of Quiz Bowl team
- Co-Founder/Captain of Table Tennis team
- Volunteering as a tech. constultant at a local church: I film services for TV and maintain their website.
- I've kept up an independent study in experimental electronic music, guided in part by a music teacher at my school. Oberlin has the conservatory, and an experimental electronic music dpt. therein, so i talk about this being a draw for me in my commonapp supplemental essay.
- 6 years of jazz guitar study
- 2 summers work experience in a rather menial factory job, mostly custodial work.
- Internship in New Media (design, web, digital photography, a/v services) at a nearby, well-established museum
- 4 summers of academic camp, studying history and philosophy

Took an interview that went over alright, but I didn't feel like it gave my chances a huge boost.

My recommendations both came from teachers whom I have a good, close relationship with, and they both assured me that they would reflect this.

My essays are solid, but maybe not as exciting as those I've heard about from recent Oberlin admitted students. I explain my motivations for studying philosophy (my intended major) in terms of a multicultural experience I had. It's not amazing, but I kept it unpretentious and find it meaningful.

soooooooo... any ideas?
