I’d say you have a pretty good shot at getting in. Your GPA and SAT scores are pretty much in the range for University Park and it may help that you’re an in-state applicant. I would suggest retaking the SAT, because a higher score would allow to qualify for merit aid if finances are one of your concerns. All in all, just make sure you continue maintain your grades as a senior and write good essays, and you should be alright. Do you have an extra-curriculars? Those are important to have too. Best of luck!

^ You’re welcome :unamused:

^^^ Ignored that post.

I came across another chance thread of yours and noticed that you don’t really have any extra-curriculars. You did mention that you were a member of a few clubs; what clubs are you part of and how long have be apart of them? I advise that you do not join a ton of clubs during your senior year, because it will look quite shady to colleges. Speaking and writing other languages is a great skill and I would definitely mention it in your essay, but it’s not really an activity. Please don’t think that I’m trying to criticize your or anything. I was in your shoes not too long ago and Penn State was my absolute top choice. I’m just speaking from experience.

Honestly i really don’t have any extra-curriculars. I have been a part of key club for 2 years. I also do a program called the Upward Bound each summer, i have been doing that for 4 years. That’s Pretty much it. Did you get in?

Colleges don’t necessarily care about applicants having a ton of extra-curriculars. They care more an applicant’s dedication to a few of them; it seems that you’ve done just that. If you are truly passionate about the key club and The Upward Bound program, then express that in your essays if you’d like. It wouldn’t hurt to get involved in one or two activities during your senior year, because it shows that you are continuing to remain involved in activities outside of the classroom. To answer your question, I did in fact get into University Park.
