I was mainly wondering if colleges, Sophie Davis more specifically, look at what high school you attended. I am planning to ED it with an 87.2 average at the end of junior year at Stuyvesant High School, which is known for its academic rigor in nyc. I have a 2220 on the SAT, 790 in writing, 660 in reading, and 770 in math. Im am planning to retake and bring it up to a 2300. I am also planning to take the ACT in September an plan on getting a 31/32. I've also volunteered at a local doctor's office and a hospital. It says on Sophie Davis's website they also look at regents. All of my regents are 95+ except physics, 91, chemistry, 85, and earth science, 88.

I was actually recently accepted into sophie davis this year but turned down the spot. They don’t have ED and a 87.2 might just be too low. Check your schools naviance to see what the avg gpa is for kids accepted into the program

Thanks! Im hoping to bring it up a little first term, like closer to a 90. I’m really hoping to ride on my SAT score and regents score, things the website says they look at. Also, what are my chances for NYU with this record?

Your chances at NYU are much better considering the high test scores. Sophie Davis also loves minorities. In particular, what ethnicity/race are you?

I am Pakistani. My mom did college here, but my dad did not. They are both immigrants and I’m first generation to be born here.

Do you think being a minority would have a noticeable difference in my chances for acceptance?

Yes however being Pakistani might be somewhat more represented in that program from what I could tell when I interviewed. I would look towards your school’s previous acceptances into the program specifically through naviance or by asking around. A stuy GPA is usually worth about 3-4 points more as per their HS profile. Im not sure therefore if it is too low and thats why I would advise trying to find out the stats of previously accepted students.

Oh ok I’ll be sure to do that. Thanks A lot!
