Yeah, not good chances at HYPSC. A combination of weak ecs and being asian. Rice, Duke, and Chicago also iffy.

I tend to agree with dblazer. Why didn’t you take the AMC10/12?

LOLOLOL. These responses are why the “chances” forum is a joke! Are you guys serious!?

You have a perfect GPA. You have fantastic test scores. And you also have very strong class rigor. Your ECs may not be the best, but that doesn’t kill your shot. Write some good essays and you have chances at all your listed schools. Albeit most are still reaches, it’s how it is for everyone.

I’d just like to point out OP didn’t state his/her ethnicity dblazer lol

Confucian, I’d like to point out that he’s good at math… it was assumed from the diagram.

Go to the decisions threads and find one single unhooked Asian applicant that was admitted to at least one of HYPSM with very high grades/scores and no significant extracurricular activities.

If you can find someone, I will concede that I am incorrect.

A fine point indeed. With such tragically unremarkable ECs, I don’t think shatter stands a chance. There are 0 prototypical Asians at HYPSM.

Please note: this is assuming that the OP actually is Asian, which has never been stated.

@snipersas Amen.

However, I must add that it can be inferred from a 5 on the AP Chinese exam with theoretically 3 years of preparation, insanely high standardized test scores, a heavy course load, etc. that the OP is Asian or at least has a drop of Asiatic blood in him/her.

Furthermore, if OP can explain his/her passion in a jaw-dropping, tear-inducing essay, he/she stands a good fighting chance.

Yea chewy ik, I just wanted to note the subconscious assumption likely made there by those who assumed OP was Asian

You’ll get in without a doubt. Well without reasonable doubt. My friend got in with stats just like yours (his GPA was lower though). So you should be fine!

The college I was mentioning was Stanford btw :)

HYPSM: High Reach (for everybody)

Chicago: Reach (Essays!!!)
Columbia: Reach
Duke: Reach
Rice: Solid chances

You need to have more colleges on your list if you are an Asian male.
Add Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Wash U……. and some LACs.

I don’t think (math) team awards count very much.

Good luck to you.

iMonica

Was your friend Asian male?
If yes, did she/he have really good ECs?

Sorry, perfect scores, a great GPA and commitment to ECs wont cut it. You’re going to need to cure cancer or found a Fortune 500 company, then the people on this board might say you have a chance.

In all seriousness, I’d give you just about the best odds possible, but it’s like rolling a dice to get in at that level.

“…but it’s like rolling a dice to get in at that level.”

Rolling a ‘bad (or unfair)’ dice if you are an Asian.

Not sure why others are giving you no chances. This area, asian female (salutarion) got into columbia with a 4.5. She did not have extraordinary ECs. The usual leadership and stuff.
Two years back, our valedectorian (yes, asian) (with gpa similar to yours) got into harvard. He was also varsity sports and couple of other competitions. You have a good shot I would think.

“He was also varsity sports and couple of other competitions.”

What were those compepitions?
I think varsity sports for Asian is a good (as long as it is not tennis) EC.

What is AP themes?

Your EC’s aren’t great, so neither are your chances. You should still apply, though, since your academics are fine.
