... so yea, as you can see my main activities are science/research and art. Music is sort of a side thing for me but since I have recognition I might as well put it on there. Volunteer work and sports... I know it makes me seem all over the place, but volunteer work I did put a lot of effort into (that was why i was made captain for my town), and as for tennis, i just do that to keep fit and I like the people on my team.. they're a nice bunch. will most likely submit a photography portfolio, probably SCEA to stanford. I have about five other safety schools, dont worry about those

thanks for any feedback =D

NYU: safe match - safety

You have a pretty good shot at the others -- no visible weaknesses. Try to demonstrate a passion/focus in the applications.

yes, i wrote most of my essays already, many of them focus on science, and one focuses on art. anybody else...?

..anybody else...?

bump ... aw, 200+ views and only one reply? :(

looks alright.

As a fellow cellist, I can't overstate the importance of sending in supplementary materials (i.e., recordings of your playing). Your scores et al are impeccable, but remarkable playing would help very much.

Awesome! Have fun with those acceptances!

... bump. anyone else?

I am really sorry to bump this so many times, but I haven't gotten many responses and I want to know... :(

1st place - School Science Fair, twice (I don't know if this is worth putting on)
4th and 1st place - Regional science fair
2nd place - another regional science fair
Research Award (schoolwide)

^ i dont think you should submit these. theyre not really significant (especially the ones tht are only schoolwide)

the regional, maybe if its pretty big in your state

well, the regional science fairs are big since I'm from NY and it's a competitive region. I don't think that the school science fairs are really a big deal (i might not put it on), but the research award is awarded to only one out of 1,000 people so it's still pretty impressive, I guess?

how did u win an ncte acheivement award? notifications are not mailed until october.

I won that in 8th grade (promising young writers... it's also... by NCTE.).. if I do get the NCTE award though (for the 11th grade) I'll put that on. I'm not sure... my school usually gets one to two a year, but I think I have a shot.. at least I was one of the nominated people.

I don't think you're allowed to put ECs/awards from before high school, though I suppose it depends on the college.

My only question from reading through is whether your passion is science or your passion is art/music. It seems like you are really undecided. I'm guessing clarifying this would improve your chances tremendously.

Wow...it's kinda scary how similar you are to me...and we're applying to the same schools. haha

You seem like you have a good shot at those schools though!

the only reason why I considered putting the 8th grade NCTE award was because my english teacher told me it was a big deal. I honestly have no idea what the award does, but she told me that it was national or whatever. I guess I'll just wait for the NCTE award this october.. haha.. or hope for one :D

my essays so far make it clear that I love science. (three are on science, one is on art, and the supplements just focus on personality. I also am going to send in a portfolio.)

last bump...?
