<p>hi everyone.</p>
<p>so i just applied as a junior transfer from UCB (recent Haas admit) to Stanford and decisions should come in a few weeks... but i am overly anxious about getting in and want to prepare myself when the letter/email comes.</p>
<p>my stats:
ethnicity - chinese
current major: business and economics/maybe triple in psychology
college gpa - 3.73
- freshman year in economics, i blanked on the midterm and got a C+ in the class. otherwise, i've gotten all A's and A-'s (around a 3.9) including upper division macroeconomics. </p>
<p>high school gpa - 3.83
rank: top 10%</p>
<p>SAT1 - 710M, 690V
SAT2 - 710W, 700IIC
AP:
European history - 5
US history - 5
Calc AB - 5
Human geo - 5
Gov't - 4
English lit - 3
Physics B - 2</p>
<p>... not the best test taker...</p>
<p>EC</p>
<p>high school:
- numerous awards in art (chinese water color - unique right?)
- 3-year varsity water polo player (1 year j/v captain)
- academic all american
- 3-year varsity swimmer
- academic all american
- wishmakers vice president
- key club cabinet
- model un cabinet</p>
<p>college:
- international summer intern at general motors in south korea (not korean)
- haas (organizational behavior) research assistant/researcher/experimenter
- summer integrative biology research assistant/researcher
- asian american association committee member: fundraising manager
- asian business club member
- asian business league of SF: coordinating collaboration effort between berkeley's business club and SF business club
- starting own dotcom: e-commerce
- successful stock portfolio</p>
<p>recs: from research professor, business professor and english professor - gives a comprehensive view of my academic, professional, and personal characteristics
essays: good? i tend to write as if i were submitting an article to wallstreet journal... it might not be very "artsy," but powerful nonetheless.</p>
<p>reasons to transfer:
i want to pursue art (as a hobby), and berkeley's underfunded. stanford has a great art facility and the funds to expand further. also, i've talked to haas students and alumni and they informed me that the haas curriculum is geared towards accountants and ibankers - only has one class on entrepreneurship. i want to be an entrepreneur in the tech world and berkeley might steer me away from that. stanford also offers a major: MS&E, which incorporates business and tech/engineering into one major, which i feel will benefit me more. aside from all this, i don't feel berkeley offers me the education i want - i feel unproductive and have to take on extra classes and activities to enhance the "college experience."</p>
<hr>
<p>that's pretty much my application summed up. i would really appreciate any comments. ooyy fingers crossed!</p>
