Chances at Stern (Finance)?

<p>Could you guys give me chances like this?:
high reach, reach, low reach, high match, match, low match, safety

<p>Objective:</p>

<ul>
<li>SAT I (breakdown): CR(690) Writing(680) Math(700) 2070 overall. Retaking in December for 2200+. I have been scoring around 2150 on practice tests so hopefully with more practice I can break 2200 by the December test!</li>
<li>ACT: n/a</li>
<li>SAT II: Chem(730) USH(740) Math II(just took, probably 700+)</li>
<li>Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.705 (yikes!)</li>
<li>Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 25% (weighted gpa would be top 10% but school doesn't do weighted)</li>
<li>AP (place score in parenthesis): USH(5) Calc AB(4) Chem(4) Stat(4) Yeah I know I bombed these...don't know what happened on stats and calc...</li>
<li>Senior Year Course Load: Four AP's. I am also self-studying Macro and Micro Econ for the AP tests in May. I am reading Mankiw's book and supplementing with PR (I covered micro over the summer already, though). Should I mention this on my apps?</li>
<li>Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): AP Scholar with Honor, 3rd place in DECA Area competition</li>
</ul>

<li>Extracurriculars: Founder and President of Key Club in 11th grade (now Lieutenant Governor) DECA member and state competitor, XC varsity, Science Honor Society Co-President, Robotics programming captain, Math Honor Society member. My EC's may seem scattered but everything truly comes together in my essays.</li>
<li>Job/Work Experience: Intern at Applied Physics Lab at UW in 2009 (researched sonochemistry; relates directly to my prospective major/career; supplement essays for most of the schools are about this and how it relates to my career/academic interests). Intern with political campaign this past summer (Republican!)</li>
<li>Volunteer/Community service: probably 200 hours total</li>
<li>Summer Activities: NYLF Med (learned that I don't want to go into medicine, lol), running 50 miles a week for XC</li>
<li>Essays: Phenomenal for all of them (so I've heard from peers and adults)</li>
<li>Teacher Recommendation: great</li>
<li>Counselor Rec: good</li>
<li>Additional Rec: excellent (from political figure)</li>
</ul>

<p>Other:</p>

<p>I visited in September 2010 and really liked the campus! I have decided to apply to Stern for Finance (assuming I don't get into Penn ED). Thank you for reading :)</p>

<p>I think Stern is a reach for you, unless you get your SAT scores up to their average (CR+M = 1440.) They are somewhat lenient on the GPA as long as other parts are good, and for you your other parts are quite good. Make sure your supplements are good! Source = athletic liaison to admissions office.</p>

<p>Do you mind if I ask what part of WA you’re from? I applied ED to Stern and I live near Seattle :D</p>

<p>Anyway, I can’t really say anything about your Stern chances, because I applied ED for Finance there too; but I will say that as long as that SAT score is raised by at least 80 points, you have significantly improved your RD chances. Good luck with Penn! :)</p>

<p>I’d echo the common response: try increasing your SAT scores. In all honesty, that along with my supplemental essay prompts were probably the only two things that got me in here. I didn’t have ECs worth mentioning, a poor and hastily-created CommonApp, nothing really in my favor except that I was an absolute animal on the SAT, had a perfect GPA, and wrote very personal, personal essays.</p>
