Anybody else?

I already gave you my opinions, now you have to evaluate mine :-). Please?

Any other opinions?

Someone take all the Ivies and other schools I've listed and write accepted, waitlisted, or rejected next to them. Include Emory as well, and Case Western.

Hello???????????

Ok, you need to chill...I realize that it's helpful to hear people's opinions, but it sounds like you're becoming obsessive. You're only a junior right now. If you want a truly valid opinion, talk to your college center. And for now, don't stress too much about it. Odds are your entire resume will have changed come application time next year.

It's just interesting to hear people's opinions. I'm not stressing at all, I am curious. What I don't need is preaching as to when I should ask for opinions.

You've been really helpful so far though, thanks.

Sorry if I sounded overbearing...I've seen too many friends waste the last 2 years of high school worrying about colleges. I always tell them that no matter where you go, odds are you'll find a niche and be happy. And you'll be really disappointed in yourself for not living it up while you can. High school is meant to be enjoyable. Just remember that and you'll be set. That's the one thing I can promise you. :-)

Well thanks man. Yeah, I try to balance myself between remembering high school is important, and remembering that my mental and physical health is also important.

So dude, could you do that reach/match/safety thing for me. I've asked the posters to do it a couple times but no one really cares.

Also, if you could suggest any other colleges I should look at. I really don't care about the state. I like the arts, hate sports, and love science. And I don't mind any size school, as long as it's not like a friggin city.

Actually, Princeton doesn't look at freshman year, either (or didn't last year, anyway). It's still a reach, though, because it is so selective.

Case and U of Rochester would be strong matches for you. U of R is affiliated with Eastman, and that would be fun. Good chance for merit aid at both.

Decent shot at Cornell - Cornell is a pretty lively place, and you seem like a lively sort of person so I think it would suit you. I would also suggest CMU (if you can commit to a specific college).

Oops, everything I suggested is in a city except Cornell - but all have pretty defined campuses. Add University of Chicago.

Not in a city - Carleton comes to mind.

A city is fine, thanks for all the advice.

Let's see...well, just considering your SAT scores, you could pretty much get in anywhere you want. GPA included, however, I'd say that HYP is definitely reach, while the other, perhaps lesser ivies (cornell, duke, dartmouth, even columbia, although it's in NYC which you might not appreciate) are slight reaches. GPA is becoming a larger and larger factor in admissions, as I'm sure you know. You're up against a thousand other 2400, valedictorian, 20 ECs.

I'd look at places like Northwestern (match with excellent music school), Oberlin (match with brilliant music conservatory), Rice (match), UChicago (match-slight reach), Carleton (match), Tufts (match), etc.

I agree with the Case Western suggestion. Though it is in a city, it has an affiliation and even a double degree program with CIM (Cleveland Institute of Music). One of my best friends is attending Case currently (just started a few weeks ago) and I miss her dearly :-(. She likes it though.

Bumpity bump bump, bumpity bump bump

Somehow my thread keeps leaving the first page.

why does everyone discount rice as a hard school to get into, i mean its sat range is just as high or higher than Duke, Columbia, Brown, like i don't get it?????

I agree, it seems like they take that school lightly.

i agree also

bumpity bump

I don't know that much about Rice as a school. I know it has an excellent reputation, but I don't know SAT ranges and other stats. I listed it as a match because it has an excellent music program, and since music os obviously one of his strengths, it should work to his advantage. I dunno, though.

It's been a while....

Anyone know that song?

Anyway, it's been a while since I've received a reply.
