Chances at these schools

Hi, I know this is kind of long, but I'd like to have some advice on my chances at the following schools:

Cornell
Brown
Columbia
Barnard
Dartmouth
U Penn
Wash U. St. Louis
Northwestern
Tufts
BC
BU
NYU
U Mass

And one or two other schools most likely that are strong in the science and engineering that will be a match for me. I have some in my mind, but suggestions would be great too:

Vanderbilt
Emory
Brandeis
Carnegie Mellon
or maybe some other LAC? I want this school to have strong programs other than engineering and the science too, just in case I change my major ^ ^;

Thank you for your help!

This is my stats:

SAT: V 630, M 790 W 670.
English is not my first language. I will be retaking the test.

SATII - MathIIC 800, Japanese 800, lowest is 740.
Unweighted GPA: 3.98, weighted 4.45.

Not an US citizen. Lived in China and Japan, fluent in Chinese and Japanese. Planning to study more languages. Lived in the U.S. for 4 years.

Not many AP classes; I've only taken 3. Got 5 on all 3 of them. Also, I haven't taken as many honors classes as my school has to offer. (All my friends have taken like 15.) I've only taken 5 in fact. But I'm taking more next year, with 4 AP classes and 1 honor.

School is public, but competitive in the area. Each year, about 5 to 10 out of 400 students get into Harvard.

Some community service, but not much leadership. No sports, no music:

2 years of TA at local Chinese school (including award for good service)
hospital aid and office aid at an hospital (2 years; including award for good service)
Volunteer at Children's summer program (30 hrs)
4 years of Culture Club, going to be secretary in September
NHS - booksale, peer tutoring; Math team; Amnesty international
into arts, drawings were shown in BC, local art society, and Japanese newspaper (although all of those drawings were never given back to me and I can't make a portfolio out of them); drawing was used as cover of Student Directory

Awards:
Certificate of Honor on the National French Contest
National Honor Roll; PSAT high scorer; Student award in English as a Second Language

Work experience: babysitting, tutoring (not much though)

Harvard summer school this summer.

Not very good at writing... (don't know what will happen with the essays or the recommendations)

bump (10 ch)

National Honor Roll is a scam.

Cornell- Slight reach/reach
Brown- reach
Columbia- reach
Dartmouth- reach
U Penn- reach
Wash U. St. Louis- slight match?/ sligh reach
Northwestern- slight reach

I'm interested about Harvard summer school.

Thanks for the responses! Maybe I should take out National Honor Roll as well from my app. Do you think I should put down Honor Roll that my school gives? Or will college just assume you have it?
Haha Now I only have like 3 awards -_-; lol

Pim Ping, harvard summer school is super easy to get in that I was even dissapointed. When I first got in, I was like "OMG! Yay!" but then 3 months later, my friend, who had a much lower GPA than I did, got in as well... so I don't know... It almost felt as if they just wanted the money...

They do. It's a terrible waste of money, sorry.

anyone else?

It looks like you are applying mainly to liberal arts and pre-professional based schools. I don't get it.

I don't think I'm qualified enough to give you an opinion as to whether these schools are safeties/matches/or reaches for you.

I wanted to comment on Harvard Summer Program, though. I was really interested in doing that and really, really wanted to apply until my father told me that I wasn't allowed to be gone for 8 weeks. I looked at the 4 week options and none sounded that appealing. Besides that, my father got so angry at seeing a few B's on my report cards that he didn't alow me to apply to camp at all and decided that he was going to isolate me among several other unpleasant things that he did [as result, I got depressed and didn't study or do any work so my grades didn't improve at all]. Yeah, so that's why I didn't end up going to Harvard Summer Program. I was really worried about getting in until this other girl from my school asked me if I was going. She has not taken as hard a courseload as I have and I'm not sure about her grades, but I think that my gpa is higher than hers. After that and after I found out through my ex that both he and one of his friends from PA were going to the summer program, I wasn't that sad about not going. I mean, I like the girl from my school, but I didn't want to be around my ex or any of his friends.

Yeah Harvard summer school is so easy to get in that it's sad.

"It looks like you are applying mainly to liberal arts and pre-professional based schools. I don't get it."

What do you mean? I'm definitely applying for colleges with strong liberal arts programs and pre-professional programs. I want to have a strong liberal arts education and go to graduate school. I'm thinking of engineering as a possible major but am certainly not fixing my eyes on it.

Can someone give me more admissions chances? reach, match, safety, etc...

cornell is a match just cuz of that gpa.

cooldude- with a high gpa cornell will undoubtably look to the op's rank as well to determine the relative strength of the 3.98 also how many ap's are offered?

We basically have 2 AP offered in sophomore year, unless you take stats, but I only took 1 of the AP.
In junior year, there were 2 offered, and I took both of them.
In Senior year, there are a lot; we have like 4 I think in Social Studies, and I'm taking Human Geography. I'm also taking other 3 AP classes in my senior year. Basically, I think you can take up to 5 AP classes unless you're doubling in language, in which case you can take 6, but since I just started French last year, I'm not taking AP French.

I didn't have any Honors classes in Freshman year, not even in math because my eighth grade teacher thought my English wasn't good enough. I tried to change to Honors, but they didn't let me. Yeah... I missed a LOT of Honors classes because of my lack of confidence in my English skills... sign I only took 5 honors classes in 3 years... when all my friends have about 15... This is probably one of my biggest regret on my application... .......... ...................

Uh cooldude you need more than just GPA to get into college...

rapport- contrary to popular belief harvard accepts like 95% of people with a 3.6+ so im not so sure your statement is correct.

the people with a 3.6+ have other things going for them...

Ahh! I believe the people with 3.6 GPA have very impressive ECs, courses, etc.
Anyway, but what do you think of my CHANCES at the schools? lol

Cornell- big reach
Brown- big reach
Columbia- big reach
Barnard- umm ***
Dartmouth- massive reach
U Penn- big reach
Wash U. St. Louis-big reach
Northwestern-reach
Tufts- match/reach
BC- match/reach
BU- match
NYU- safe match
U Mass- safety/safe match

guys i know about college admissions. but what i meant is that her gpa will probably be the deciding factor.
