My parents have been really cracking down on me and my college apps, saying how I probably won’t get into any of the schools I’m applying to… I just wanted to know what you’d think my chances are of getting into these schools with my stats?
I’m applying to UMich Ann Arbor, UW Madison, UChicago, Northwestern, Duke, University of Virginia, College of William and Mary, Case Western Reserve, Boston University… Some of these are a reach, I know.
ACT Score: 33 (Taken twice… Got the same score)
GPA (unweighted): 3.77
Rank: 14 out of 108
AP courses taken: AP Human Geography, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, AP English Literature (Our school offers around 8 or 9 AP classes)
College Courses taken: Calculus II and III
ECs: Math Team, NHS, Key Club, Junior State of America (Student Govt), Piano (nearly a decade of it), Dance (Ballet)
I’d say my essays and writing supplements are around an 8 or 9 out of 10, but I’m starting to doubt myself to be honest. My letters of recommendation are likely also 8 or 9’s. I don’t know, I’m just hoping I don’t get rejected from all my schools at this point.
Here is my guess. But missing in your profile - Race/Leadership ?. Try www.admitster.com, It gives a good calculation based on on wide range of parameters. Biggest impact is leadership.
UMich Ann Arbor, - May be (based on college - LAC largest one, so high changes)
UW Madison, - Yes
UChicago, - NO
Northwestern - May be
Duke - May be
University of Virginia - May be
College of William and Mary, - Yes
Case Western Reserve, Yes (may be merit money - make sure you apply)
Boston University - Yes (may be merit money)
@bk1366 Oops sorry. I am Asian American and I have held leadership positions in Junior State of America as Director of Activism, but that is about it. I wrote my essay on JSA and debate, however. Not sure if that really shows leadership, but it does show I like to speak.
For UMich LSA, it should be a match for you from in state but CoE would be a very high match to low reach. I know another in state student with better GPA but the same ACT score got rejected by CoE last year.
UW Madision should be a match too. CWR would be similar. The rest are mostly reach mainly due to your GPA and class rank.
I would recommend to review U of C, NW, and Duke. NW and Duke mostly prefers people with Sports as they are DI team. It is difficult to find student with good grades, play high level sports, and have lot of money. You can try U of C as reach. But be realistic.
