Chances at top schools despite suspension?

I’m currently a high school student. I’ve never made a b have taken 5 AP classes, and 6 college classes. I have a SAT score of 2250 and have 5 subject tests scores of over 730. However, I was recently suspended for logging into my teachers electronic grade book to change my grade from a 92 to a 95.

Chances are pretty much nil for a top school. Academic suspension goes on your record for falsifying grades and you might have turned your potential A- grade into an F, depending on your school’s policy. Not smart at all given that you have a strong A- grade and your standardized test scores seem good.

You are lucky that you didn’t get expelled from school. Right now you might want to consider a CC, get the best possible grades, and transfer to a 4 year institution.

OP, what year of high school are you in?

I’m unfamiliar with suspensions so anyone can respond but: will your school explain the situation? Or can you under-rate ur situation? (ex: can you lighten the situation when explaining on common app or will the principal send an official letter saying EXACTLY what you did?

I’d say based on what you said, it’s pretty bad… Suspensions for alcohol and MAYBE even drugs can be seen as “teen mistakes” (I go to boarding school and on-campus drinking is the most common reason for suspension), but plagiarism or anything that ruins your academic integrity is (from what I’ve heard) an automatic rejection

My school guidance counselor will most likely report it in her letter of rec

I have low self esteem issues, and my self-worth has become tied up in my grades. So i made a dumb mistake in deciding to go about a dishonest way of fixing that

Sorry to break it to you but this kind of academic dishonesty is basically an immediate rejection.
