I am currently a senior in high school. I had a very shaky beginning to high school academically due to social anxiety. However, my sophomore and junior year I have turned it around and become a top student as I was able to overcome my fear of the social part of highschool (I made sure to base my application essays off of this). What chances do I have at getting into George Washington, Georgetown, NYU, UC Berkeley, U of Michigan, and U of Virginia? Also im pretty sure Berkely and U of Michigan only look at 9-10 which should help.

Clearly I had a significant incline in my GPA over the four years. However, my Freshman and Sophmore year was mainly made up of regular classes, not honors. This was due to a horrible councilor who refused to let me excel.

Will my horrific Freshman year and kinda sophomore year ruin my chances of these schools? Or will my strong Junior year and writing about overcoming social anxiety help me to have a chance?
Thank you so much!

I’m kind of confused by the 2075 SAT. Also, I think you mean that Michigan and UC Berkeley DONT look at 9th grade. Because they definitely look at Junior Year.

Berkeley low reach. They use the uc system so your gpa would be different
George Washington high match
Nyu high match/low reach
U Michigan high match
Uva if oos low reach

This hard to judge considering you don’t have any extracurricular activities that you told us about so this could change. I know UVA will be hard just due to your GPA but your chances increase tremendously if you are a in state student. The same thing for Michigan but I think you might have a better chance there as my knowledge of UVA vs. Michigan is that UVA’s average GPA is higher which makes Michigan a better option and you have a great SAT score of Michigan. UC Berkeley is very much in reach as their average GPA is around 3.9 so you are doing well there and you SAT score fits around the top of their scores. NYU, that’s tough. Your GPA and score fits the average but they only accept around 30% of applicants but they are very particular about who they admit. Georgetown is the toughest, your GPA is behind most Georgetown students so I’d apply RD for them and not focus on it too much. George Washington is another school where your GPA and SAT scores are about right but it’s a school where you need a lot of connections and a lot of politics are involved in getting in. Again this is not going to be 100% correct but I’d say if you have good ECs then you will be all right but if grades are the only thing you have focused on then you might be in trouble with these schools… Good luck though!
