I take the hardest schedule my school offers
I am the editor of my school newspaper, and emperor of latin club. I play tennis and I was on the all-county tennis team. I am on the Model UN team, which received an honorable delegation award at the GA Tech competition. I am on the varsity academic bowl team. Also, I was nominated into a leadership class at my school. I will be doing a service project to improve my school.
Neither of my parents went to college. My dad has never been a part of my life. Also, my Aunt and my Uncle went to the Joint Program between JTS and Columbia.
I received good recommendations. I wrote two essays. The first essay is about a time during my life in which I lived in a cabin without running water on top of a mountain. I spent a lot of time with my neighbors (one household) who were not good people. They did drugs, had abuse etc. I finally met some other people when I went to school. They really helped me, and they were much better people. I believe that you can learn something from good and bad situations and conduct. My experience imbued me with empathy for people.
The other essay is about a summer program that I attended at Brandeis. It gave me a better understanding of what I wish to do with my life: to continue my religious learning, to be a strong member in a community, to seek a better understanding of the world around me, and to pursue a career in international affairs.
I have heard that essays usually don't help students out that much unless they describe dire circumstance like surving the Bosnian war. Will my experiences help me at all.

Thanks for your help!
