Chances at top schools?

I have been scanning the boards and I am a bit confused. On both the ISEE and SSAT I got 99 Verbal.
Reading 89 and Math 93 - with overall 97%
When people are saying you need in the 90s - does that mean overall? Is 97% overall good enough - or will the 89% in reading hurt me?

I am applying for significant financial aid.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Top of my class at independent school
all A/A+
Excellent recommendations
Normal extra curricular - but not standing out a ton.

Will I get in?
Thx

97% is more than good enough!!

No one can really accurately chance you for schools with low acceptance rates. Just do the best you can (and consider schools with higher acceptance rates, or where your stats are way over the school’s average, in order to increase your chances of merit aid, or financial aid)

Scores help admissions officers determine if you can handle the academic work.
To be admitted, you need to demonstrate that you are likely to make a positive and meaningful contribution to the community. That’s where your character and personality come in (as demonstrated in your essays and recommendations) and your extra curricular activities.

Also: Try not to think in terms of “top” schools. What does that even mean? The teachers are comparable at most boarding schools. The best school for you is the one where you thrive and do your best work… and where you get the most generous financial aid package.

Nobody here knows. You can get in, but it is also likely you will be rejected from some “top schools.” (whatever that means)

So I guess the overall score on SSAT of 97% Is fine?

You’re past the benchmark. If you get rejected, it won’t be because of your SSAT score.

97% is more than fine. That’s a great score. Move on to making the rest of your application just as great.
