Chances at Top Schools

I'm kind of suspicious about this...

IB History of the Americas HL
IB English A1 HL
IB Chemistry HL
IB Mathematics HL
IB Theory of Knowledge
IB Spanish A2 HL
AP Environmental Science
AP Art History (with Florida Virtual School)

I'm a Diploma Kid and I know that you cannot take more than 4 HL. Any self-respecting IB school wouldn't allow this. Also, you only have 5 subjects...where is your 6th? If you could explain your schedule that would be great. What is your extended essay topic? The other reason this seems like BS is that all these HL are taken over two years...

Explain..troll?

Ok...

I took Physics SL Junior year.

I am going to have to test 1 SL, but I am still going to be in the HL class.

I took the 5 HLs Junior year as well

My EE topic is in economics, specifically game theory

Wow, why is everyone being so negative on him?

Because they are jealous.

That's great. Sorry I jumped to conclusions, I still find it wierd that your school allows you to take 5 HL's when the IBO says that it should be 4 maximum.

That isn't your fault though..

Yeah, its not very common/encouraged. I think a big part of it is that HL Math/Chem kids usually have no desire to take any more spanish.

Carnegie Mellon and Michigan could be match/safeties for you. Apply to Michigan early and cross your fingers that you're admitted. If so, there's your safety.

Eh...Michigan I would never do. I can't go to a school that is that into football. CMU seems too engineering oriented for me.

what about U. Rochester, Boston U, Boston C, Notre Dame, GWU, Syracuse? Syr could be your safety.

Is it just football that you don't want to go into, or sports in general. Rumor has it that Duke likes its basketball team...

just football. Basketball is actually a matter of consideration/a huge plus. (Duke, G-Town, Stanford)

Some have said that my EC's look to be weak. How do I best represent them in my application? For example, on the common app short answer I have prepared 2 responses: one is creative/funny about quizbowl, and the other is serious and detailed about robotics. Should I sacrifice the creativity to explicitly state accomplishments?

Instead of being in both the Democratic and GOP club, u shouldve created a moderate club in your school, this wouldve gained u extra points because people would realize that u had ingenuity, but since u didnt do that everything else u have worked hard for is nullified to nothing and you'll never get in anywhere, not even heaven (or any other paradise for that matter).

(now thats negative)

I wouldn't ED to Duke... you have impressive stats, have you considered ED to Princeton or Columbia? I got into Duke RD, but as far as SATs are concerned you def. beat me... Georgetown I think you're in... Emory is safety...

I would turn down princeton/columbia for Duke in a heartbeat, so I'll stick with ED.

Impressive. Good chances all around.

Yes, I think you're in at Duke ED

Have you thought about Northwestern?

"Intel ISEF Finalist : 4th Award in Animal Sciences"
isn't that a hook?

I had hoped it possibly was. Duke has a specific optional questioned that asks for "major research done out of school". That would count for it, right?
