Chances at top Schools

Hi! I am going to be a junior next year.
I am under a lot of pressure from my parents to go to a top school such as stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT, etc. . . a TON of my friends got into these schools.
I feel that I am not doing enough, so I hope that I can get some really good advice on this forum.

SAT (old) - 1250 ( I took this in 8th grade)
PSAT 197 (9th grade)
PSAT 219 (10th grade - I hope you guys can give me some advice on my

that was really weird. . .it automatically posted!!

anyways, I hope you guys can give me some advice on my test scores, possibly target scores that are reachable. . .

SAT II Chinese 760 (I am ashamed. . .)
Chemistry 730 (I am hoping the colleges will neglect these...)
US History

AP's US History 5
Chemistry 5
Stats 5

GPA 4.0 (so far)

key classes next year:
ap econ
ap english language
ap calculus
ap biology
ap physics
ap government

extra curriculars -
Key Club (volunteer) - secretary and public relations (2 years)
NHS - project coordinator
Speech and Debate - top 60 in the nation
- number 2 at Oregon for a specific event
Science Bowl - haven't done anything too great

summer internship with Tektronix
AMC 12 Oregon Honor Roll
Who's who among american hs students
National honor roll (I realize these two are useless)

The bad thing is that my family is sort of rich, but not rich enough to have me not get a scholarship. . .
I don't have any really great areas of interests. . .

thanks for you help

The "Who's Who Among American High School Students" program is useless and a scam. Don't put it on your application.

You are on the right track.

wow, this is interesting. .

when I applied for my internship, my friend told me not to put the Who's who award on my resume, so I didn't. . .

is it really THAT bad?

It won't hurt you, but it won't help either.

If your 219 PSAT can translate to a 2270+ SAT, you'll have a reasonable chance.

I think you have a chance of getting into Stanford. But it may not be a good idea to go in just because many of your friends have gotten into great universities. You have to decide for yourself what YOU really want. Getting into top schools aren't everything.

My opinion differ from most so take it with a grain of salt. Actually, take any advice you get from strangers with a grain of salt. I don't think you have that great of chance at stanford. Scores are okay, not great. You don't even have your official SAT scores yet. I did way better on my PSAT than I did on my SAT. Sometimes, it doesn't translate. You didn't do anything outstanding or attention-grabbing. Who doesn't do NHS or Key Club? If you're "one of the top 60" (who gave you this title) in the nation for speech and debate, where are all the awards?

yeah. . .actually it is because I don't have anything too attention-grabbing that I wanted some advice. . .
and I admit, the speech thing is sort of arbitrary: I competed at the Nationals tournamet held by the NFL (national forensics league )(more than 500 competed) in Philadelphia, and I the round which I was eliminated, there were 60 people left. . .however, I do have a lot of awards recognized by the NFL, so I guess that is tangible. . .
But my main point is that I don't think I am doing enough to get into Stanford, so I'm asking for advice. . . thanks
