-I am an intensely devoted writer. I wrote a 400 page journal this summer, and believe me it was anything but a narrative, I expressed my views on politics, social affairs, religion, family matters etc. Through this I have really become passionate about a few things that I believe will be manifested in my intended major.
I have become quite adept to the field of Economics and I would like nothing more than to study the field.

I am very familiar with the prestige associated with the University of Chicago Econ program and although my SAT and ACT scores don't suggest myself qualified for a University of this caliber, I feel myself being drawn to this college. I feel I am a unique writer that will do well on the uncommon application. As far as back up schools, the University of Texas Austin is where I am leaning. Considering I live in Texas and I am in the Top 5% I will almost certainly be accepted there. My other large reach(simply because of OOS residency) is the Univeristy of Virginia. Externally the chances of getting into UVA vs. U Chicago would almost seem polarizing in my case, in the sense that UVA, a public institution of less prestige than a top 10 university, would be vastly easier to get into than U of C. This may not be as one sided in terms of percentages however. UVA's freshman pool right from the start must consist of 66% in state students. Leaving only 34% of the avaliable for the rest of the US. The addmitance rate at UVA is 37% in the aggregate, including both in-state and oos applicants. This likely means the acceptance rate for oos students is far more competative, I'm guessing in the mid 20 percent range. U Chicago on the other hand only has 2% on average from in-state. The University of Chicago seems to take a different, exorbantly more hollistic approach with great weight on the essays. The acceptance rate is 38% which seems odd for a school of this magnitude. But in reality its because of its midwestern local, relatively low amount of applicants, and many misunderstood sterotypes that often deter well qualified students from applying. So heres my final list of reach schools progressing to match and safties. Tell me what you think...
