Chances at UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, UC Davis

My weighted GPA is 3.89,
SAT1 score: 1650,
SAT Literature: 600
SAT Math 2: 550
I rank in the top 10% of my class.

Active member of CSF, GATE, Boy Scouts, Journalism.
Former Kiwanis Key Club member, Ecology Club member.
Previous member of Cross-Country and Track teams.

What are my chances of getting into UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, and UC Davis?

I also qualified for Statewide Eligibility (guaranteed admission to a UC) but I think that means ending up at Merced or Riverside.

I have taken AP and honors courses in all four years in English, and AP US History. My grades have steadily gotten better after each semester. My senior schedule includes AP Eng. Lit, AP Calc, and AP Econ/Gov.

Can you specify which UCs are the wisest for me to apply to? I'm limiting myself to only four.

If that’s your UC GPA, you probably won’t get into any of those.

The average GPA/SAT at UCLA is around 4.15/2050, UCSD 4.05/1950, UCI/UCD 4.0/1850.

Agree they are all reaches with current scores, but a rise there would make the mid tier schools within reach. The grade inflation in CA is shocking!

[UC Admissions Statistics](http://www.ophs.opusd.k12.ca.us/uc_admissions_statistics.htm)

Assuming that you are in CA and you are not majoring in the highly selective ones like engineering, here’s what I think:

Berkeley, LA - reach
David - slight reach
SD - slight reach/match
Irvine - match, since you are an ELC student.

I have to agree with dkwunw that your GPA is on the weak side. Are you going to retake your SAT and Math2, or take another SATII in the upcoming 2 test days? If you are, and you can raise your scores, you have a better chance.

Good luck.

Thanks, I will retake SAT Math 2, and considering the ACT.

If it changes things, I’m planning on majoring in English/Literature.

UCD and UCI are matches kinda. the rest are out of the question i believe (sorry i’m from alabama, but this is just from previous threads i’ve read about the cali state schools) honestly, your gpa is kinda bad, but i think you could raise SAT/ACT via studyinga lot. you still have time!

GOOD LUCK! and chance me bacK? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/786831-let-me-chance-you.html</a></p>

If you are ELC you are guaranteed admission to UCM, UCR, UCD, UCI, and UCSB. You could check the statistics on the university of california website. I believ 96% + of the students with ELC get into those schools.

Without taking the ELC into account, probably all those schools are out of the question. But since you have ELC, then you’ll probably get into Davis/Irvine.
