Chances at UChicago + Brown/Duke + LACs?

(x-post from UChicago subforum)

Hello! Before I jump in, I just want to say that I’m aware of my low GPA and SAT scores. That said, I just retook the SAT last weekend and am taking the ACT this month. For UChicago, my college counselor has placed me (on a scale of safety-likely-possible-reach-far reach) at “possible” bordering on “likely,” which he approximates to a 60-65% chance of getting in, but I’m not entirely sure where he’s getting that from and I would love to have a second (or third or fourth) pair of eyes chance me for UChicago and the others on my list!

I MISS YOU

I will go ahead and disagree with your counselor and say you have little chance of getting into Uchicago. You also have little chance for most of your other schools, so I would recommend picking more mid-tier schools like emory or tufts. Your ethnicity will only get you so far.

ACT’s been bumped up to 33 since I posted this, if that helps any.

33 is a respectable score for URM. I think you’ll be fine.

@FiddleMySticks I should’ve posted this months ago, but I just wanted to thank you for your unwavering faith in my chances of getting into UChicago. Thanks to your support, I got in ED1! I would strongly suggest that you continue to offer your indispensable advice on similar ChanceMe threads. I’m sure others will benefit just as much as I have

I’m still anxious to hear back from Brown. I suppose it doesn’t matter for you anymore since you’re bound to UChicago now though! Congratulations for all your hard work and becoming admitted!

@RKStudent Thanks! And best of luck to you in Brown’s RD round
