Chances at UConn's 8-Year Med?

Hi Everyone,

I am a high school senior at a large public HS in NJ. I have applied to UConn’s 8-Year BA/MD Accelerated Med Program and am looking to understand my chances at being accepted into the program.

Academics:
-3.65 UW GPA (4.0)
-3.90 WGPA (5.0)
-2000 SATs (1350)
-30 ACT- did not submit
-Taken 7 AP classes (ranging from 3-5 on exams)
- Sciences include Hon Chem, AP Physics 1, AP Bio, Hon Genetics (not the best grades; A to B- range)
- Good History Student; over a 4.5 WGPA average for history courses
- Rigorous Senior Year courses (all honors or AP except for PE)

EC’s:
-JV/Varsity Tenns all four years
-Youth & Government- Legislative and Press Delegate all four years
-Chorale- auditioned a capella choir - 10-12
-Noteworthy- auditioned mens a capella choir -all four years
-Science N. Honors Society- 11-12
-Rho Kappa (N. Social Studies Honors Society)- 12
-Doctors of Tomorrow (club)- Senior Advisor- 12
-UNICEF Club- founding member-12

Experience/Volunteering:
-Regularly scheduled volunteering at HOPS Program- helping/teaching mentally/physically disabled athletes
-Shadow/Assist at aunt’s dental practice (Internship)- 2-3 weeks during summer
-Accepted into intensive 3-week premedical program designed for high school students @ RWJMS (@Rutgers).

Awards/Letters of Rec:
-AP Scholar Award
-2X Honor Roll
-Accepted into 2 Honors Societies
-Teacher Letters- From AP World History & Hon. Bio 1/Hon. Genetics teachers
-Additional letters from Asst. Dean @ RWJMS and from aunt at dental practice

Also, if I were to not be accepted into the program, am I automatically denied or will I be deferred to Regular Decision? Please let me know.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but most people who get into thr combined med have done A LOT of outside research related to medicine or biology.

You can get rejected from combined med and still be admitted to the honors program.
