chances at ucsd with high sats, but low gpa

<p>Hey guys!</p>

<p>yea i'm pretty new at this thing, but i was looking at everyone else's posts and you guys seem to know alot and give pretty good advice. yea and i'm definitely not as smart as like 1/2 of these ppl here, but i was just wondering what my chances are. well, here are my stats..</p>

<p>go to a private catholic college prep school in cali
going to be a senior graduating in june 2006,
applying to:
-i really want to go to ucsd
-ucb/ucla/ucsc/ucsb/uci/ucd
-santa clara university
-cal poly slo
intended major: sociology</p>

<p>gpa: 3.6
sat scores:2200
v-720
m-740
w-740
sat II scores:
math 2c: 690
us history: 710
chemistry: 620</p>

<p>ap: apush(junior), ap stats (senior), ap gov (senior)</p>

<p>volunteer hours: 400+
bok ranch for mentally and physically disabled kids, sacred heart community center for migrant workers, emergency housing consortium for the homeless, agnews developmental center for the mentally and physically disabled, los ninos program in tijuana, mexico, cleaning up the beach in LA</p>

<p>ec: jv tennis team for 2 years, v badminton for 2 years, school ambassador, service club, national honor society, california scholarship federation officer, asian club, peer counsler, amnisty international, teach tennis, black belt in tae kwon do, volunteer at church, band for 1 year, LIFE team (a religious team at school), newspaper writer</p>

UCD/UCSB/UCI: Safety
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Super Safety</p>

<p>If 3.6 is your UC GPA, I'd say it's a reach.</p>

<p>You'd be definately in at UCSD if you had a 4.0+, since they use a point system. You still have a good chance with those scores and ECs.</p>
