heyy! okay so i've heard so many things about umass amherst accepting a lot of people but then theres always a few people who say that it's a random selection process and tough to get into. so i was wondering if anyone could help me evaluate my chances..

haha. sorryy.

I don’t know if I can help you, but here’s what I have and I’m looking at Umass as well.

Male, asian, 1st generation.
gpa: 89.018/100
classrank: 31% (so top half)

9th grade: 2 honors class (math, science)
10th grade: 2 honors (math, science)
11th grade: 2 honors, 1AP, 1 college class (math, science, APUSH, spanish)
12th grade, 1 honors, 1 AP (history, APenglish)

Ec: xc 3 years (will be 4)
indoor track 3 years (will be 4)
outdoor track 3 years (will be 4)

good enough to run at a decent DI school

awards/honors: none
volunteer work: none

SAT
M-630
Cr- 490
W- 440
then i took them again
m-620
cr-540
W-510

so supscored is 1170/1680

my sat scores and gpa/class rank isn’t amazing, but i hope i have an outside shot at getting in, im going to end up running for the college im going to so hopefully the coach can get me in, and i can get some money.

sorry, i no i make a lot of grammer/spelling mistakes, but I’m in a hurry, sorry!

oh, and could you maybe take a look at mine?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/746766-i-already-chanced-myself-can-people-just-check-them.html

thanks.

hahaha thanks for replying to my very annoying post :]
but yeah you took quite a few weighted classes which is always good, colleges like that.
&since you’re good at xc, i’m sure that will make the school want you even more.
the only downfall is that there is no volunteering…but hey, i’m not sure how important that is. also SAT is pretty decent, i don’t think umass requires a very high one anyway. but yeah i think you have a good chance of getting in!! (i hope i do too…but you never know nowadays)
okay i am off to your post! (:

okay so i was wrong
i talked to my guidance counselor from school today
and i actually have a 90.2 not an 86.
i have few pretty bad grades though…with a few good ones to somewhat compensate. somewhat.

BUT there are some classes that are not worth as much included in that gpa. that includes EVERYTHING. lol :

haaha wait you should be happy that your gpa is a 90, not an 86 lol
