Generally, USC doesn't worry much about the writing section of the SAT, just the Verbal and math sections. You will need about a 1250-1300 on these two to get in with your statistics, in my view.

Friend of mine got into USC this year (and will be attending) with way worse everything. His dad had a connection and got him into an interview, which he dominated. He was accepted despite mediocre everything.

Yeah I know my ACT score sucks.. but does my internship help at all? It starts next month and I had to work sooo hard to get it! 80 kids applied and then it was taken to 30 to be interviewed and then 10 people got it. The newspaper I am interning with is a top newspaper in Florida! And I want to be a journalist very badly.. and pursue my passions at the USC journalism school.

One of our really good family friends is graduating there this year, so besides that, I don't really have any connections.

your in trouble in my opinion. how tough are you schools? because your GPA looks like your either a hard worker or the school isn't very tough... i mean a 25 ACT usually converts to a 3.2 student.... doesn't make much sense in my view of it. i would say you need at least a 30 to get in out of state.

I am just a bad test taker when it comes to standardized testing. That was also my first time taking it with absolute no preparation. I'm taking the ACTs during the beginning of the school year and am aiming for a 27-28.

Also, I was wondering if this would help my chances.. my Grandfather's brother used to work as the boss of the Health & Science section in USC. Does that help at all? Too bad no buildings were named after him hehe.
