Not much better, I'd shoot for 30.

Okay then, I guess I have a lot of ACT studying to do this summer :T

I noticed you wanted to be chanced for USC so i decided to give it a look. USC is one of my top schools and it seems like we have very similar everything. My SAT was 1760 i had a 1200 on the critical reading and math combined. my weighted GPA is a 3.825, with only 2 AP's so i think my unweighted isnt too much lower.

i'm on the high school paper and hold leadership positions in 2 clubs but my main extracurricular focus is in sports, im a distance runner and a varsity soccer player, both of which i got all district 1st team on and captained.

church is a big thing for me, im in the youth group and dedicate a lot of time.

the only difference is that I am going to apply as a nutrition major, im applying communications everywhere else because my goal is to have a career in public relations, but being a nutritionist is a close second and i really like USC.

soooo haha i guess were in the same boat.

I wish you the best of luck

Well, the other top journalism schools in California are at the UCs (particularly Berkeley and UC Irvine), at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, at Cal State Northridge, and at Chapman.

You could also go into a California community college program, since doing well in one is probably the easiest way to transfer into USC. (Most have articulation programs for this purpose--USC takes about 1,300 transfers a year--and 63% of these come from California community colleges).

The top schools for transfers to USC are El Camino College, Glendale Community College, Mount San Antonio College, Orange Coast College, Pasadena City College, Saddleback Community College, and Santa Monica College--all of which are in the greater LA area.

You will need a minimum 3.6 at these schools to transfer, though--so you'd have to keep up the good grades to do this.

P.S. I was at USC on this past Monday visiting with my son. After seeing the campus and meeting with some of the staff, he's decided that he definitely will be applying as a transfer student (he's currently at Indiana University) this coming January--so maybe you two will be classmates in another year or two. His SAT score is 1260/1600 (560 CR, 700 M), but he's retaking it just for transfer purposes--since he wants to get into the Marshall business school. He's shooting for a 1380-1400 score as a minimum (out of 1600), or 2050/2400 minimum.

Hmm thanks for the advice, but I am pretty sure that I do not want to go to a community college.

Does anyone know if there is early decision applying for USC?

No, there is no ED or EA for USC. Admissions letters go out in waves to applicants and if you want scholarship consideration, you need to have your application in by Dec 1st.

Allright thanks.

b..u..m..p. please.
