Thanks, yall.

what percentile/rank are you?

Which school are you applying into? Being top 18, it is going to be a reach. But some majors are easier than others.

18th percent. my school is mad competetive.

is being black going to help me any?

UT has been sued in several landmark AA cases. They are rely interesting reading. Start with Hopwood and read them.

The short answer is that for kids like you who are not auto admit, the school does consider factors in addition to GPA. And race/socio-economic background/URM can be a consideration.

But if you are a wealthy black kid with two professional parents from Highland Park, being black won’t lift you above the wealthy white kids from Highland Park with two professional parents.

@Texasmomof3 what majors would you be talking about? and do you know if its difficult/the process to apply for a major and then transfer to your desired one?

For example, cockerel engineering is a very competitive school. McCombs business is also pretty competitive.

Many kids start as an Econ major and then apply to business school admission as sophomores. Many will also start as arts and sciences undeclared and then apply to engineering later.

You may very well get in, and I wish you good luck. I’m just saying that since you aren’t auto, please have contingency plans in place.

I’d say you’re almost guaranteed. I felt the same way but apparently my application was late even though I submitted it in October…bleh…good luck though! Hook Em Horns forever.

@Jetsetter wow congrats! and even though my rank is around 18th percent, you still think im almost gauranteed? can i have a explanation im really anxious lol thanks
