<p>Just wondering what my chances are for getting into UVA

<p>It would be very helpful if you could share your ethnicity and the competitiveness of your school in this thread; NJ is, of course, the most overrepresented state in the country for college admissions, and knowing these details can greatly impact your chances.</p>
<p>That aside, your GPA is definitely on the weak side, and your standardized test scores don’t pull much weight either. Being in the Top 25% is more of an impediment than it is an asset.</p>
<p>For your extracurriculars, you seem to be committed to band, although I am not certain as to how helpful an affinity for music will be for a school like UVA. If you plan to pursue a career/major in music, there are definitely much better options than UVA. Furthermore, you don’t have many leadership roles the handful of clubs that you listed. One of the biggest mistakes applicants can make is sending a grocery list of activities to adcoms, incorrectly hoping that quantity is more important than quality. </p>
<p>In the end, UVA is a tough school for even the tippy-top high schoolers. You do have legacy, but remember that state schools do not put that much emphasis on that.</p>
