I am a current junior at a public school ranked top 10 in Georgia.
Well, here are my stats:
Metro Atlanta white male from family with $100k+ yearly who went to Emory and FSU.
3.88 UW GPA
4.06 W
(^so long as my grades go as planned at the end of junior year)
2010 SAT: 710R, 630M, 670W. (I know my math grade is low, but expect it go up at least 50 points after my 2nd test on the 20th.)
Will have 6 APs by the end of senior year (Junior year: Stat, Lang, Env Science. Senior year: Comp Sci, Comparative Gov, Calc AB. (I know my classes that I took aren’t the most rigorous, but 90% of my other classes have been honors/accelerated and not many APs were offered for freshman and sophomores.)
Extracurriculars: JV Soccer freshman year (played club soccer all my life, but quit after freshman year, I now rock climb in my free time), TSA Sophomore year (was state finalist in architectural design competition), Beta club freshman and sophomore year, Model UN Freshman year (competed at Georgia State and Georgia Tech). Will do cross country senior year, hope to make varsity, and will be NHS when the time comes to apply. Also participated in a few smaller, less reputable, fun clubs but had no leadership positions. Had a job reffing kids soccer, am going on a month long National Outdoor Leadership Society trip, and will expect to have another job this upcoming summer.
I also have a chronic illness that effected my athletics and grades if that helps in the “overcoming adversity” category.
I consider myself a pretty decent writer, so I’m expecting my essay to be above average.
My accumulative average on my transcript for is 94.33 for all semesters except 2nd junior semester, if that helps at all.
Also, my major is undecided, but will probably start out as Political Science.
Here’s a pretty lengthy description of me, lol.
Any input/advice/predictions is much appreciated!
Schools I will most likely be applying to are: Northeastern, Boston U, Wisconsin at Madison, Georgia, Clemson, Illinois, Lehigh, Maryland, and Penn State.
The main school that I am hoping to get into is Georgia, which I will be applying early action for.
Any advice on whether I should shoot for less or more prestigious schools would be great.
You can look up the Common Data Set for each of your choices so you can see how your stats measure up to recent admissions.
