Hi, I've applied ED at Wash U, (for computer science), and it seems like every moment of my waking day is spent twiddling my fingers waiting for some sort of decision. The anxiety is killing me, so maybe some opinions on my chances will help... Any opinion will help, so feel free to speak frankly.
Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.8 on a 4.0 scale weighted, my school gives an additional .03 per class
AP Classes: physics, calc ab, chemistry, french lit, french lang, american history, european history, english lit, english lang, and economics. Ten in total.
I'm currently taking 5 of them right now, so hopefully my gpa will go up.
SAT: M 720 V 710
ACT: 30
As for recomendations and essays, I'm sure I've gotten really good recommendations and I have gotten my essays proofread by 3 or 4 people.
Extracurriculars:
Volunteering: nursing homes, children's museum, and hospitals (over 100 hours)
French Club: 4 years
Academic Team: 4 years
NHS: 2 years
Tennis Team (state champions): 3 years

Your test scores and GPA are very nice, but to be honest, your EC's are a little weak :( Wash U's admissions are kind of weird. I think it really depends on the type of person they're looking for, because I remember hearing about someon who got rejected who had an SAT score in the 1500's, whereas there was another applicant who was accepted with a score in the 1200's. You won't not get in for a lack of good test scores, but it's hard to guarantee anything with WashU (I looked at applying there for awhile). Good luck! Let us know how things go!

i agree with topper...wash u waitlists a LOT of people, but they are very selective in who they actually accept...admissions seems pretty random.

As the previous posters said it's hard to predict admission to Washington University. Your stats are definitely competitive and they tend to look very favorably on accomplished athletes like state tennis champions with strong academic records. Good luck.

PS - Our daughter was waitlisted with a high 1500's SAT and top 2% class rank with EC's similar to yours with the exception that she did not participate in sports. Students from her high school that have been accepted in recent years were outstanding in one or two sports or were very accomplished musicians with grades and test scores below yours.
