Chances at Williams, Swarthmore, etc.

I am a highschool sophmore, and I wanted to know what you thought my chances would be at Williams, Swarthmore, U.Penn, Darthmouth, Cornell and Duke.

4.00 Unweighted GPA in intense courseload
15/527, but will go up several next year, due to course selection
208 PSAT last year ( I was kinda sick and very tired that day)
760 on SAT math practice- new version
770 on SAT writing prtactice
750 on SAT reading comp. practice- new version

I run Cross Country, Track, and Indoor Track, and I will continue to do so, most likely as captain my senior year. I also play bass clarinet in the concert band and marching band. I am taking AP Calc, AP English Langauge, and AP U.S. History next year. I am also taking spanish at a local community college next year. I will take 6 AP classes my senior year. Any help would be appreciated!

I am particularly interested in Williams and Swarthmore. I will probably apply ED to one of them.

anyone at all?

Your chances are great, but chill out! You're not even a junior yet! You definitely don't need to start stressing now. That being said, you would definitely be a good candidate at any top school, so applying ED is probably a good move. You should still pick some safety schools too, though, because admissions are so random that those schools are reaches for everyone. Annnndd, Williams and Swarthmore have very different cultures--are you sure you really like them both?

I know, I get a little hyper, but there is alot of pressure for me to go to a high-tier college so I want to make sure I am in good shape. I know Williams and Swarth. are different, but i like different things about each. As for safeties, I have plenty to choose from, so i am sure I will be alright their. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, in order for you to continue to seriously consider BOTH Williams and Swat, I would recommend that you visit their campuses and get a feel for their environments - they're very different. WHEN you visit, try to do it during the school year, and also try to do an overnighter. I'd also advise that you visit their sites here on CollegeConfidential in order to at least become partially aware of what kind of students are applying to each. Your chances to both look good (although I'd still apply ED to one), but remember that although Swat and Williams may be two of the most academically-renowned LAC's in the country, this is probably one of their few commonalities.

Williams Site:

hey I got into all of those, my stats are similar, i think you have a good shot

however, i suggest leaving College confidential and not coming back until summer or spring of your junior year lol

Your list has a lot of overlap with my daughter's and, based on her results, you look fine from a stats perspective. Now you should stop worrying so much about stats (except GPA, keep those grades up) and pursue your ECs and think about fit.
Williams and Dart go together, so can Williams and Swat, and Duke and Dart, despite what some would say, but UPenn and Cornell? Why them and not Princeton, for example. Also you need good safeties - what do you like about Williams and Swat, start listing those qualities, and look for schools that are less selective that share those qualities - whether it is size, location, programs, academic atmosphere.

Thaks for the advice everyone. As for ECs, both band and running have been very enjoyable, so I will continue with those. the only other EC i will pick up will (hopefully) be NHS next year, and maybe student council. I put Cornell and Penn down because I am a runner, and the Penn rlays and Ithaca's landscape might be nice, but again, Swat and Williams are my top right now. I will check them out this summer most likely, maybe that will swing me one way or another. As premature as I may appear, I just want to prevent myself from putting all this until next year, I want to start now, so I am comfortable in the spring with my options. Thanks again
