Chances Avg GPA High SAT: UChic, NU, WashU

Hi, wondering what my chances were(I posted a chances thread previously, but I have changed the schools and updated for accuracy). Caucasian Middle Class, Mid-West(Indiana)

note on GPA the maximum weight placed on an AP course at my school is 4.333, as opposed to a 5 at most other schools.
GPA: 3.68W 3.606UW (9-11)
GPA: 4.08W 3.823UW (10-11)
projected GPA at RD admissionsGPA: 3.743W 3.69UW

note on rank: My counselor said many people in my rank area are huddled around this current GPA. If I do the same or better next year, my rank will go higher than expected. (I was 200something at the beginning of Jr. year.)
Class Rank: 100/517 (2nd decile)

ACT: 34
SAT: 2300
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, 780 US History, 770 Biology

AP test: both are projected to be at least a four.

ECs:
Medical Club, 10-12
JSA, 11-12, President/Founder
Key Club, 11-12
National Honors Society, 10-12, Secretary
Speech and Debate, 10-12
AIME qualified
AMC12
PSAT:217
NFL Nationals Qualifier
Internship at a law firm
Independent Science Research(not published, but about to compete with it)
JSA Georgetown Advanced Politics Session
SNFI Advanced Seminar debate camp

I will definitely have very good recommendations from Math/Science, History/English, and counselor

Not too worried about essays; I'm a good writer. But I have a question: would a good essay topic be about caring for a mentally challenged uncle while a single parent was working? The other would probably be about Speech & Debate if possible

Colleges: (I know; it's a lot)
WashU
Northwestern(ED)
Chicago(Possibly EA)
Stanford(probably the one I'll work hardest on)
Columbia
Rochester
McKenna
Boston University
NYU

WashU match

Northwestern match

UChicago reach...your ECs are a little spread out. UChicago values passion and dedication, not necessarily amazing numbers and impressive looking ECs

Stanford reach. ivies are reaches for everyone

Columbia less reachy than Stanford

Rochester low reach, high match

McKenna match, if not safety. youve got the grades and the leadership CMC values. CMC likes to see alot of leadership and ECs.

Boston Univeristy match, maybe low reach

NYU match

WashU - in
Northwestern(ED) - in
Chicago(Possibly EA) - low reach
Stanford(probably the one I'll work hardest on) - low reach
Columbia - low reach
Rochester - IDN
McKenna - IDN
Boston University - in
NYU - in

Your class rank statistically makes any ivy highly improbable. That also goes for Stanford and NU.

a) Stanford is not ivy.
b) Ivies are not reaches for "everyone"
c) Boston University is not a "low reach" for a 3.7 2300 SAT and if it is, we are all doomed.

You have a great shot at all of them except Stanford, and Stanford might take you if you get lucky.

^I agree with jbruner17 on this..

I 2nd jbruner17!

How can Stanford be a low reach for anyone?

Islav gets the dumbest post of the week award.

99% Not Gonna Happen:
-Columbia, Stanford

Very Unlikely:
-WashU

The rest are all possible.

s snack you have the dumbest post of the week award. He/she has a decent chance at columbia and stanford. The people who post on this forum are probably in the top 5% of those accepted so everyone thinks you need something amazing to get admitted. This person has a decent gpa, high test scores, and good ec's. Definitley a good chance at stanford and columbia. However, try to show some passion in you ec's.

Not at all. With a 3.6, unless you're hooked, your chances at school with acceptance rates under 10% (HYP, Columbia, Stanford) are next to impossible, regardless of your SAT score.

And you would have had a better chance at Stanford last year, when they discounted 9th grade grades, but they're stopping that for the class of 2012.

Oh then I apologize for my comments. Would a 92.4 average be competitive for princeton.stanford/columbia if you go to a rigorous magnet school (Bronx Science)?

Assuming a tough courseload and impressive scores, yes.

WashU: Low Reach
Northwestern(ED): Match (if ED)
Chicago(Possibly EA): Low Reach
Stanford: Reach
Columbia: Reach
Rochester: Match
McKenna: Match
Boston University: Low Match
NYU: Match

be careful--you need to add in some safeties. college admissions are crazy these days, you never know what will happen!

My scores are impressive I guess.
34 act
800 bio
800 on math2c
800 on u.s history

However, I only took 4 honors classes up until junior year and SCIENCE research. I will be taking 5 a.p's and linear algebra next year. princeton said they understood that we might not be able to get the a.p classes we want since there are liited seats and they would place the greatest emphasis on senior year. I also have socioeconomic diversity and passionate ec's for me. Am i still considered competitive?

Your only weakness is your rank, everything else is quite impressive. Try to get your rank into the top 10%.

Can someone please respond to my post? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"princeton said they understood that we might not be able to get the a.p classes we want since there are liited seats and they would place the greatest emphasis on senior year."

what? im confused.
anyway, dude, yes youre competitive. Good luck!
