Chances CAS ED

Hi. I was just wondering if you guys could chance me for CAS ED

SAT: Math: 610, Reading: 530 (Retaking October)
ACT: 26
SAT II: Chemistry: 680, Spanish: 600 (Retaking Spanish)
GPA (unweighted, weighted): 4.0 / 3.7
Course work: Almost all honors and APs
EC: Very strong extracurricular and volunteer work
College work: Currently I'm taking Advanced Spanish Grammar and Composition at Rutgers University, during the fall talking another Spanish course at a local college.

Thanks!

Definitely apply ED. Need to boost both SAT scores. NYU CAS is a reach. But if you have strong recs and essays, you have a shot at liberal studies. Good luck! anything is possible.

You have a chance at CAS, but not a good one. Your gpa is good, but your test scores kind of suck, which makes it seem like your high school classes were easy. If I were you I would apply ED to boost your chances, if you're sure NYU is your 1st choice. Good luck!

Do you think that the class at Rutgers I'm taking will improve my chances?

It can't hurt, but it is not going to accept you. You have a decent shot at ED CAS Liberal studies. NYU is very selective/random so you will just have to perfect everything you can and hope for the best. Good luck!

Also, try and increase your ACT score.

The Rutgers class is a nice thing to add to your transcript, but it won't help you out a lot.

I agree that you have a shot at LS. To give you a little perspective, I had a 3.64 UW gpa, a 2140 SAT I, 8 AP classes with the rest mostly honors, average extra-curriculars, decent community service, went to a top public school, and I got into the Liberal Studies Program (formerly GSP) Regular decision. I think your stats also put you in the LS range, but who knows, you might get into CAS. It almost seems random.

Thanks for your comments. I would actually be content with LS.
