And how much non-need based aid should I expect. Also if you have any suggestions please let me know! Thanks for all of your help. Here are some of my stats:*

I was not personally impressed with Clemson’s merit aid anyway but I think your SAT is low. In-state most people I know think you need 1300 (CR+M) to be guaranteed a spot and out of state may be higher. You might be there depending on how it splits out. Again, that’s not from website just kind of accepted wisdom. Having said that, check the website for your particular major. You can apply to Clemson undecided, but they encourage you to apply to a college and some (engineering for ex) have higher standards

I think you have a good chance at getting in! I went to a pretty good HS in the Boston area, got a 3.1 GPA in honors/AP classes and had a 2010 on the SAT and got into Clemson, VT, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Northeastern and UMass for engineering.

What high school do you go to? haha just curious (went to Belmont HS myself)

Thanks for your feedback! How do you like clemson coming from Boston? Was it hard to get used to the south or did you fit right in? Also how is the weather there in the winter? Doyou still need a winter jacket? I am from Concord, so right down the road from Belmont! Do you suggest trying to get my SAT score up some more?

I love Clemson! I may never come back to Boston haha, it was a mix I guess - I didn’t fit in right away but I got used to it slowly. Temperatures in the winter are in the 40s and 50s, can get down to the 30s in the morning but it usually warms up. I’ve never used the winter jacket I have at home and usually a sweatshirt is enough (at least for me). It usually snows once a year (about half an inch to an inch) and people freak out - buy all the bread and milk in the store. It’s pretty funny.

Are you in the top 10% of your high school class? If not, you probably aren’t going to get any merit aid (don’t know anything about your financial situation with non-merit scholarships). I feel your pain since high schools in the Boston area are pretty competitive but I guess Clemson is trying to recruit more students in the top 10% of their HS class since it is a factor in college rankings such as US News. Getting your SAT scores up a little wouldn’t hurt at all.

Pierre, I’m from the North too and am interested in Clemson. What did you find the hardest to adjust to at Clemson?

Probably the way people dress - people dress up a lot nicer in the south

Pierre- I laughed when I saw your comment about bread and milk. I used to live about 15 minutes away fron clemson. I live a couple hours away now, but I used to watch the news showing managers at publix limiting people to 3 loaves of bread and 2 gallons of milk.

haha I never understood that…if the power goes out - your refrigerator goes out…and your milk will go bad, why not get bottled water?

Tell me about it! I went for canned soup and bottled water…

Out of curiousity, how do you feel about Clemson’s location? (In proximity to a city). I know the town is pretty dead. I’m thinking about applying since I’m instate and I have 4 cousins there, but I’d really prefer a big city.

I wouldn’t say the town is pretty dead - it’s ok when college students are around. If you want a big city, I would suggest other alternatives like Georgia Tech, College of Charleston, Pittsburgh etc…

@Pierre, I’ve lived in Charleston sc all my life and I think it’s snowed here a total of 3 or 4 times in all my 18 years of being here and every single time it’s like this enormous epidemic. School gets cancelled, everybody stocks up on food, nobody drives cars. It’s crazy. You guys take snow for granted but it’s awesome to us southerners!
