Planning to write essay about math, wasn't my best subject beforehand
Asking chem and french teacher for recs, should be alright
Applying to CAS
Undecided on major

This is probably as complete as it'll get. Any input at all will be appreciated. I might take SAT I again in Nov., I think I'll be able to boost math and I know I'll be able to boost writing 50-100 points. Thanks!

Pretty good chance...other then a being a little light on the EC's, I can't see anything that doesn't make you competitive. The only problem is the fact that there are thousands of kids like you applying to Ivy League schools.

Hey! Fellow Korean American here as well. Though I am afraid my stats are quite inferior to yours.......Allow me to point out several things in your profile that may help.

Major?
Cornell tends to be more of an e-gua type of school, with the reputation for being one of the best in the associated field. Although it may don't seem like much, it is quite important on deciding which of the college you will go as the curriculum provided differs from one to another. Please don't just choose CAS with undecided major, because I know a hyeong who got in last year with undecided major wanted to transfer out of CAS to CALS.
(just an opinion concerning your math - history combination. I know math just comes along like it does for all koreans, however since you show proficiency in History, generally mun-gua type subject, I thought you may want to consider deciding on a solid major.)

Community service hours- In our school 50 hours is the required hours to graduate. Although that may not be the case in your school, it's always good to have three digit number instead of two digit number.....

And by the way, what state are you from? Visa status?

Nice grades, ranks, ECs, awards, etc! I envy you man!
Keep up the good work!

@dtop: Thats what i saw as the weakest part of my application as well. Nice to hear im in the running at least.

@JaySong: Annyoung! Thanks for all the helpful info, you seem to have done a lot of research on Cornell. Truthfully, I have no clue what I want to major in. I was leaning towards maybe chemistry or some kind of business/econ study and I thought I'd have a bit more options in the CAS (not really for the latter). Btw, I'm not that great at math, probably my worst subject (unbecoming of an asian, i know); that Math 2 score was a fluke. ><

Theres no grad. requirement for volunteering at our school, but I just figured itd be a better idea to do some than none. I enjoy volunteering when I have the time.

Im in Pennsylvania right now as a permanent resident. Thanks for your input on everything. I'm flattered to hear you "envy" me but im sure you're just as if not more competitive than I am; nothing particularly special about me. --;
