Chances @ Cornell

Hi,
I'm applying to Cornell ED, and I was wandering what are my chances? Thanks in advance.

GPA: approx. 3.85

SAT I (1st): M: 620 V: 670 C: 510
SAT I (2nd): M: 620 V: 730 C: 590
SAT I (3rd): M: 650 V: 700 C: 600
SAT II: Math Level I, French, US History : TBD in October

Rank: Haven't received the latest rank, but last year I was in the top 22, and I could have only moved up since I improved my GPA: So around 20-22%.

AP Classes:
US History (5), French (5), Biology (?), Environmental Science (?), Human Geography (?), Calculus AB (?), Psychology (?), Government/Economics (?)

Class Rigor: I took 1 Honors course Freshmen year since I was misinformed and made some wrong choices. I took 1 pre-AP course and 1 AP course for which I did not even take the AP during my sophomore year. (Again, poor choice) My junior year, I took 2 APs and 1 pre-AP. And this year I'm taking 5 APs, 1 regular and 1 off-period. Total: 31 credits.

Extracurricular:

Sport: Varsity Ice Hockey (4 years - Assistant Captain/? this year)

Clubs: Interact Club (4 years) Earth Club (2 years) NHS (2 years) French Club (3 years - Treasurer/Vice President)

Volunteering: 100+ hours through school clubs and YES program. Additionally, this past summer I volunteered at the Memorial Hermann in downtown Houston and received 50 hours.

Work:

Local Ice Rink (started this past July) I work around 20 hrs/week.

Awards:

NHS

Academic Excellence

Texas French Symposium (Placed 1st place in State competition)

Fastest Skater Award (1st place)

Thanks for reading this, I just wanted you to approximate my chances and give me some tips/hints for the app process. Thanks a lot. BTW: I'm also applying to A&M and UT Austin.

I’d say this is a far reach, but not impossible.

Thanks a lot!

If your class rank is only top 20% this is a very far reach. Sorry! best of luck!!

Yeah I know, but my rank is affected based on the honors class I took in the past years. I only took 1 my freshmen, 2 sophomore, 3 junior and now I’m taking 5. Will they be in favor of an upward trend?

It’s always good to challenge yourself more, so I’m sure they would like seeing those honors classes increase. I think, since your class choices got a little messed up at the beginning of your HS career, you could take classes at a community college/online to make up for it. Unless it’s too much work, which it can be with 5 AP’s.

How could anyone chance the OP without knowing what college/major he/she is applying to?

Biology (CAS)
Sorry, forgot to mention that.

It seems for most of the colleges, those kinds of stats are on the low side.

“most colleges”?
You surely mean most, if not all the higher-end universities.

I meant the colleges of Cornell University (CAS, CoE, CALS, etc.).

your chances are very low

it’s a reach if the OP is white…

i would recommend you try to get into the honors program at TAMU…then u could try transferring :)
