Chances FL Gpa low

What are my chances for USF, USFSP, UNF, FGCU? My GPA is 2.6 and ACT is 26 (math 22, reading 31, English 27, science 23). Thanks! Any suggestions?

Do you know your weighted GPA?

Below is from FGCU’s Common data set:

Also, a lot of useful info can be found in the admissions Matrix. You’ll notice it’s a bit easier to get accepted to the Summer B term, vs the Fall at many of these schools.

All regular classes. Gpa is low, but I’m trending upward. I have autism and I work very hard. Lots of volunteer work. Can get teacher recommendations. Will that help? Any ideas?

Well…apply to FGCU, UNF and USFSP for the summer term (vs Fall). However, you will need to have a back-up plan.

I would recommend a CC (state colleges) as a solid backup plan. It’s affordable, not as rigorous (giving you more time to adjust to college level courses), and if you do well, you can transfer to any of the Florida schools, including UF/FSU/UCF/USF, etc. Keep in mind that a significant % of undergraduate students that earn a BS at a Florida public university, were transfer students from a CC. At UF it’s somewhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of the students, at the other schools it’s significantly more.

The state colleges also offer a few BS/BA programs.

Keep going strong, it will pay off.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I appreciate it. Good advice.

Update- Private colleges and universities in Florida have more flexible admission requirements. They appear to consider the “whole” applicant as opposed to basic stats. The tuition is higher, but it is an option worth considering for students who don’t have 3.0+ gpas and fair to good test scores. I was already admitted for summer to a private college in FL rated in the top of the rankings for regional universities in the south.

CC remains a good option. The tuition is a lot lower, but I’m hoping to have a college experience and avoid needing to transition again after 2 years.

Deferred for first semester grades for publics I applied to so far.
