thanks so much!!! good luck to all of u on whatever your driving yourself crazy ove rha

Hey, I think you've got a good shot at getting into BC. Your grades seem good and your sat is way above BC's average. (Their early action admitted sat average was 1397.) You seem to have a good variety of EC w/ good leadership positions and some fun stuff too (ice cream shop!) ;-) Anyways, I definitely think you'll get into BC if you're essays are good and if your recs aren't bad. I'm not familiar w/ any of the other schools you listed so you should try to post on those forums. But my question though is when is the application deadline? Hasn't it already passed? Maybe I'm completely off-base here so if I am, apply now to BC! :-)

Hi Rovee--Your statistic about the SAT average for EA is interesting! May I ask where you found it?? I have perused BC's website, but can't find anything current about EA this past year...any info would be appreciated. Thanks! And sorry for the temporary hijacking of the thread..casey

I called because i was deffered and they told me the average sat was 1406, the kids had all 4s and 5s on their APs, and were in the top 5%.

i got that 1397 score from a BC early action admission reception (something like the one you and your daughter went to caseyatbat!). the lady who was hosting it said that the letter they got from the admissions office stated that the avg. sat score for early admits was 1397. 1406 and 1397 are pretty close so i'd say that the average was about 1400.

hey chrisso620, how do they know about the ap scores? i haven't sent any of my ap scores to any school and i dont remember ever writing them down on the common app.

Chrisso, I got into the Honors Program, and I didn't have all 4s and 5s on APs...and my school doesn't rank, but I'd probably be in the 5-10% range if it did (though that is misleading cause I go to an academic magnet school, but still). I have unique ECs and a higher-than-their-average SAT though.

And rovee (I think that's who asked about the APs), I don't remember where it was on the App, but I know I wrote down my scores somewhere...was there a pre-app (sorry, this was so long ago)...if so, perhaps there. I don't know for sure though.

On the supplement, you write down all the APs you took, and your grades on each of them. You don't have to send them, I guess you just write them down. I was deffered so I called and those were the reasons she gave me for why I was deffered (I only have 1280, in top 13%, and have 2,3,4 on my 3 AP tests.

Thanks for the info everyone. Rovee-and others--what were your feelings after going to the reception? I thought it was very interesting. How many students were there? We had 7--with parents. The agenda was very enthusiastic...and very effective. I (the Mom) went in as a bit of a skeptic, or should I just say unwilling to pay the big bucks. Now I can understand reasons why people would...
ps-I grew up in Bellevue. Isn't that where you said the reception was?!

wow, i completely forgot about everything on the supplemental app, but thanks guys for the info.

caseyatbat: yup, the reception was in bellevue, right across the lake. hmm.. i think that your experience w/ the reception might have been a bit better than mine, haha. actually, it wasn't all that bad since the current BC students who were there for break were really cool and pretty easy to talk with. There were about 12 students and all of them attended private high schools. I was the only one there from a public school and there was, unfortunately, a slight condescending attitude from some of the girls (this irked me becausei didn't see their reason for acting elitist since we did get into the SAME school). This made me think that maybe BC had the same attitude, but I could tell from the student reps. (who seemed cool and down to earth) that it isn't like that at BC. (or at least I hope it isnt!)

Anyways, the video that we were supposed to watch didn't happen since something was wrong w/ the DVD player so it was basically a lot of chit chat. I'm still not sure how I feel about this reception over all, but I'm at least glad that the BC students were there to talk about the school. I wish I would have left the reception w/ an overwhelming feeling that Boston College is definitely the school for me, but the conversations we had never went past the surface topics (what are the dorms like? is their wireless internet connection?) and I sincerely wish that somebody could have told me why I should choose BC over all the other schools I got accepted to. Don't get me wrong, I still love BC, and I hope to get answers to my questions if I visit in February, but after the reception, I felt like I had to force myself to say, "yeah, it was awesome!"

i hope it isn't too much to ask, but could you describe how your daughter's reception went and maybe give us their answer as to why we should choose Boston College? Could you also share anything about bc that really struck your attention (good and bad). I'd really appreciate it!

Sure, I'll give my impressions, but think I'll move my response to the thread on BC receptions. That way we don't hijack curious05's thread for too long....

hey its okay..thanks rovee for replying though..... the only thing is my recs did get messed up.. because i couldnt meet wiuht a teacher and the cover letter wasnt sent itn? i called in wiht an apologie and sent it alter...do u think this will have an effect?.....o and does anyone know about BC's pre-med program?
