Hello all. I recently visited Boston College and have been interested in it for quite some time now. I actually loved it so much that I had tears. Anyway, PLEASE CHANCE ME! Around 500 volunteer hours as of now
Still awaiting decisions for National Honor Society, but have been told I am a strong applicant

Thank you!
I plan to double major in Poli Sci and a business related field if that helps anything. Also, my recommendations should be very strong, as well my essays. I think I have an interesting story.

HI krazy,
You’re doing great, but BC may be a reach school. It’s hard for me to gage your academic strength since you say your HS is middling, and then your ACT is in the bottom 20% of BC admits. But, if you can show strong Subject tests, you might really increase your chances. It would prove you do know your curriculum.

I like your activities for BC. As you know, they place a lot of emphasis on service, and they may like your church involvement. It’s great that you’re looking at this as a junior. My son also does Leos. This year, try to be president or committee chair for your main 2 or 3 activities, instead of just a member. My D did Relay in HS, then ended up at her college as their Relay’s committee chair. Her school actually got 1st place in the country among colleges for funds raised last spring. Because of that, they flew her to Hollywood to watch the screening of the Standup2C TV show. Really neat organization, stay involved, you can do even more in college.

Back to you, I also liked that you work, and have the political internship. It ties into your future major in poli sci. See what you can do to get those test scores up, take the AP exams and report them on Common ap if they are high.

Re Early Action, read their policy very carefully. It’s really different than other schools. They don’t give an advantage to EA applicants, so depending on your situation, Regular might be the best way.
Good luck!

@Maggpie Wow thanks! I do admit I must read up on the EA policy. Most of my focus is going into the ACT! Whatever I do, I just don’t seem to improve and I really feel limited to my options because my school. I hate saying it, but I almost feel restricted because our curriculum is just not focused on college readiness. I will TRY to do my best to improve. THANKS SO MUCH! Best of luck to you as well!
