what are his chances at Lower Ivies, MIT, Stanford, and Caltech.

**Let me just rant about the college admission process while im at it.
Stanford is clearly a difficult school to get into, and one person on this board told me that you have to be insane to get in there. However a kid from my school who was nothing special, 2200+ SAT, high GPA, good SAT II's, but no good extracurriculars got in to stanford. He was male and had no legacy. Another one of my friends got waitlisted at stanford with a 2360, 800's on SAT II's, the highest GPA in the grade, and numerous leadership positions in school. He ended up going to Caltech because he was also waitlisted at MIT. Im still wondering why the 2200+ guy got into stanford? Any thoughts...?
