I’m a HS senior who has about the average stats (SAT M680,V730,W710; SATII World Hist 800;math 2c 730; taken virtually every AP score in the school; plenty of Comm. service and extracurriculars; terrific letters of reccomendations) as any other admitted Brown student, but I’m from Houston, Texas. If i applied Early Decision, would I have an advantage in the application process since I’m from a place which seems to be relatively underrepresented in the admissions process?

Do i have any chance?

Well, I'm actually from Houston, and I'm applying early decision to brown, so I'd say go for it big guy. What school do you go to by the way?....I go to STHS

I'm from Houston, too, and I'm applying ED! You should definitely apply early if you really love Brown.

yeaahhh i've heard so many great things abt it! (the only sucky thing is that they have NO parking for freshmen, and since we're Houstonians, you basically GOTTA have a car! lol) oh btw, i'm from Cypress Falls High School. some more things abt me:
ranked 14/729, so dat's top 2% (unfortunately i dropped from my #1 rank the year before =( ... too many AP science courses at once...);
i'm bangladeshi, so i'mna put mah ethniticy down i guess
iono bout mah chances, considering only 23% get in ED =(
for an Ivy, i wonder how Brown's median SAT score can be so low...

anyways, if any Houstonian out there wants to talk to me abt Brown, admissions, myself, yourself, etc., feel free to holla through a private message!

It's not "so low." It's actually really high, if you think about what the score breakdown is.

And as to the "for an Ivy" part -- Brown probably looks more at the whole student than individual scores compared to some other schools. This may lead to a slightly lower SAT average, but more well-balanced and talented students.

quick post

my composite SAT score is now a 2200
Math: 680
Verbal: 730
Writing: 790 (11/12 on the essay!)

I'm going to apply today; do I have a good/bad chance?
