Chances for a Scholarship?

Hey guys,

I was accepted into CAS a few weeks ago and got an email offering me a place in the Presidential Honors Scholar Program, which they said is given to the top 5% of the entering class. However, I did not receive any financial aid because I did not apply for it (as my parents said that I shouldn’t even bother because I’m not going to get any anyways). I didn’t realize that NYU gives aid depending on how much they want the student, and I was wondering if there is a chance I can get some financial aid or even a scholarship if I ask now? I’m assuming that with the program offer and a call an admissions officer made to my high school counselor, I am at least a semi-desirable candidate for them.

No, you cannot apply for financial aid right now. The deadline is already passed. But you can do it for next year~

@kker98 What about merit scholarships? Can you apply for one right now?

@sungjong I could be wrong but I’ve read on the website somewhere that they consider you for merit-based aid automatically regardless of financial standing, so you may not have qualified for any aid in the first place, at least academic-based.
